Our Store Development team are looking for a mechanically biased Technical Services Manager to help deliver exceptional building services across a varied and exciting portfolio of capital projects.


Working within a complex operational environment, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient and sustainable delivery of mechanical, electrical and public health systems across a range of development projects. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineering professional to influence major investment programmes, collaborate with senior stakeholders and contribute to the ongoing evolution of a world-class estate.


About the Role

In this role, you will report to the Lead Technical Services Manager and act as the technical lead for MEP services across a broad range of projects. You will work closely with Project Managers, Engineering, Fire Safety, IT, Security and external consultants to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with technical and statutory requirements.

You will be responsible for reviewing technical designs, managing engineering consultants, supporting project delivery from inception through to handover and maintaining high standards of operational readiness. You will also play an important role in developing best practice across project teams and helping to shape engineering standards and governance.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the delivery of mechanical, electrical and public health elements across capital projects.
  • Managing engineering consultants and design teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Reviewing and approving engineering schemes, specifications and technical designs.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, building regulations and health and safety standards.
  • Overseeing project programmes, budgets and technical deliverables.
  • Supporting project handovers, operation and maintenance documentation and operational readiness.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Coaching and supporting wider project teams on M&E best practice.
  • Maintaining engineering standards and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

You will be mechanically biased from a design background. You will be an experienced MEP professional with strong technical knowledge and the confidence to lead complex engineering discussions with a variety of stakeholders. You will be comfortable balancing technical excellence with commercial awareness and project delivery requirements.

You will enjoy working collaboratively, building strong relationships and influencing decisions across multiple teams. You will be highly organised, proactive and capable of taking ownership of projects from concept through to completion.


You will also have:

  • A minimum of five years' mechanically biased experience managing mechanical, electrical and public health projects.
  • A strong understanding of MEP systems, fire life safety and sustainability principles.
  • Experience delivering construction or engineering projects from inception through to handover.
  • The ability to review technical designs, engineering specifications and consultant proposals.
  • Experience managing consultants, contractors and multiple stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of statutory compliance, building regulations and health and safety requirements.
  • An mechanical engineering-related degree.
  • Professional membership with CIBSE.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.
