Job Description:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Technical Sales Representative core responsibility is the sales and account development activities within the assigned hubs, territories and allocated key accounts, including but not limited to:
- Establish and maintain strategic relationships with new and existing customers,
- Prepare and present technical sales presentations focusing on the company’s value proposition to customer,
- Review customer inquiries and insure a complete understanding of specifications and requirements,
- Price and prepare quotations to customers based on established company policies,
- Maintain the sales pipeline and provision of core data to AES Canada commercial department for reporting purposes,
- Interact with the local indirect sales channel as needed for support and special projects,
- Make regular sales calls to key existing/prospective customers to understand their needs, educate their engineering staff, and assess the business environment including (but not limited to):
- New opportunities or competitive situations at the account,
- Participate in site audits and translate equipment observations into solutions to the benefit of customers,
- Recommendations on improvements or other actions to secure business,
- Present cost savings and Return On Investment calculations to help customers with project justifications
- Coordinate and present training,
- Projections of expected sales and future actions for inventory planning,
- Research prospective new customers and make proactive sales & survey calls for the purpose of generation of new business.
- Collect and retain information on competitive pricing and services offered in the marketplace for the company’s products,
- Recommend marketing strategies to efficiently and cost effectively promote the company’s products to prospective customers,
- Provide annual budget recommendations for sales in accordance with company goals and policies,
- Provide written plans, call reports and other documentation on time, per request,
- Adhere to company travel and expense policies in the conduct of daily business,
- Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice, as determined by business needs.
EDUCATION
Postsecondary education in an Engineering discipline from an accredited university, or Interprovincial Trades qualification, or equivalent mechanical aptitude and industry experience will be considered.
EXPERIENCE
A minimum of 5 years of industrial sales experience, and/or mechanical seals, pumps, rotating equipment is essential, specifically direct involvement in the following market sectors is vital:
- Oil & Gas
- Chemical and Petrochemical
- Pulp and Paper
- Mining
- Water & Wastewater
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
- Be people, sales and service oriented,
- Have the ability to maintain and develop customer contacts and relationships,
- Ability to prospect new clients,
- Be computer literate with Microsoft Office and able to utilize technology to source and find information,
- Have strong demonstrated verbal and written communication skills,
- Have basic understanding of engineering principles and the ability to read and understand material specifications and drawings,
- Be able to troubleshoot problems using analytical and problem solving capability,
- Have a professional attitude and appearance,
- Bring a strong work ethic, be self-motivated with a desire to succeed and have the ability to work independently,
- Must have high attention to detail,
- Deliver on growth and profitability,
- Have enthusiasm and desire to contribute to a winning culture,
- Have lived in Ontario 2 of the last 10 years (or in Canada 5 of the last 25 years),
- Must be eligible immediately to work full time in Canada

Skills Required

- Must have lived in Ontario for 2 of the last 10 years or in Canada for 5 of the last 25 years
- Must be immediately eligible to work full time in Canada
