About the Role

Fivetran is building data pipelines to power the modern data stack for thousands of companies.

The Technical Revenue Accounting Lead will own and be responsible for maintaining and updating the existing revenue recognition policy as necessary. You will partner closely with Product, Pricing & Packaging, Legal and others in assessing new products, pricing and packaging structures, partnerships, etc., for appropriate accounting. You will also partner closely with Deal Desk, Sales, and Legal on review and approvals for non-standard contract terms and structures. You will play a pivotal role in helping Fivetran scale and grow by identifying areas of opportunity for efficiency and automation with a risk-based approach. This position will require working through ambiguity and the ability to deliver results under deadlines.  

This is a full-time position based out of our Oakland office.

What You’ll Do

  • Own and maintain the ASC 606 Revenue Policy and application of that throughout the business. 
  • Be the subject matter expert for Revenue Recognition and how that applies to Fivetran’s business model today and in the future.
  • Perform detailed reviews and prepare accounting analyses of non-standard revenue contracts to ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards. 
  • Develop strong relationships with key business partners as we implement new products, pricing structures, and other GTM initiatives
  • Develop, maintain, and document key SOX controls over the non-standard contract review process that will scale with growth and complexity. 
  • Manage and synthesize large amounts of data using analytical tools to illustrate findings, analyze trends and report results
  • Work closely with business leaders on initiatives for ongoing process and system improvements to increase compliance, integrity, and scalability
  • Support the broader revenue accounting team as necessary Prepare ad hoc revenue analysis as requested and respond to auditor queries
  • Understand internal and external revenue reporting requirements and optimize financial systems to provide improved visibility

Skills We’re Looking For

  • 8+ years of accounting experience, with at least 5+ years of specific revenue accounting experience
  • Experience with a high-growth SaaS company and a focus on systems and tooling.
  • Public accounting experience, Big 4 preferred 
  • You will demonstrate advanced Excel and system skills. 
  • You are meticulous and well-organized. You strive for precision and thrive in an environment of changing processes, working with multiple data sources, and driving multiple tasks to completion. This role is all about the details paired with thoughtful execution.
  • You are passionate about process, continuous improvement, and leveraging technology.
  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills. Your approach is clear, thoughtful and service-oriented.
  • You are a self-starter with a strong sense of ownership over your work and that of the team.
  • You approach new learning experiences with confidence and curiosity.

  • Required experience: ASC 606, Technology industry, SOX
  • Preferred experience: Netsuite, Salesforce, Looker, SQL

This range represents base salary only and does not include incentive for sales roles, equity, or  benefits, if applicable.

$133,920$167,400 USD
