The Technical Product Owner is involved in every aspect of next generation platform design and implementation efforts (customer engagements, conceptualization, and software/firmware/hardware design & development). You will be responsible for collaborating with a multi-discipline team of peers in design, development, test and deployment of a range of products. This would require deep understanding of UEI’s core technologies and highly technical product development practices, as well as in-depth knowledge of Connected Home, Comfort Control, and Entertainment industry technologies and market trends.


This individual should have strong technical ability, background in software or firmware development, excellent project management skills, great communication and presentation skills, and the motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment. As such, the Technical Product Owner must be flexible and capable of communicating along multiple time zones and efficiently managing geographically dispersed teams. Responsibilities

  • As a member of Agile product development teams, work with developers, technical managers and product owners to capture, analyze and resolve complex, highly technical problems.
  • Manage the development expectations and communicate achievements and timelines to the extended development community and our stakeholders.
  • Verify and document new features and issues via hands-on testing and creating videos, presentations and reports.
  • Define and develop product roadmaps for Connected Home, Comfort Control and Entertainment control products.
  • Define and lead the development of brand-new device categories to enhance user experience and deliver new services and applications.
  • Study and benchmark emerging technologies and solutions to define technology roadmaps.
  • Design and develop innovative & highly optimized solutions integrating advanced communication and control technologies for a Connected Home ecosystem.
  • Deliver products that fit our B2C and B2B channels including Connected Home, Comfort Control, Consumer Electronics, Subscription Broadcast, and others.
  • Engage with our global commercial teams and strategic customers to identify pain points, create User Stores, and address market needs in the form of new products and services.

Qualifications

  • 2 years as a Technical Product Owner or Technical Product Manager. 
  • 1 year as a software or firmware developer.
  • 1 year in an Agile development environment. 
  • 1 year in Tech sector (Smart Home, IoT, Media and Entertainment Devices, Comfort Control, Consumer Electronics, or adjacent industries). 
  • Deep, hands-on understanding of software, firmware and hardware product development.
  • Experience working in Agile development environment, including Sprint planning, Backlog Grooming, Estimation (Sizing) and Roadmap management.
  • Experience in developing Connected Home, Comfort Control, Consumer Electronics or Media & Entertainment user-centric products and solutions.
  • Knowledge of connectivity and communication standards, including Matter, Bluetooth Low Energy, Wi-Fi, Thread, Zigbee, and Z-Wave.
  • Understanding of Embedded and Cloud platforms, Cloud development, and data infrastructure.
  • Knowledgeable with product costing, bills of materials, electrical and mechanical components, and tooling.
  • Experience in drafting PRDs and Functional Specs.
  • Ability to read schematics, block diagrams, and flow diagrams.
  • Familiar with continuous integration and DevOps build management tools.
  • Knowledgeable with full product life-cycle ownership from concept to production to end-of-life.
  • Experience & Passion in Human-Machine Interactions and User Behavior Analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Hands-on with Confluence, Jira, Figma, Voice Flow, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Self-starter who works well in a team environment without constant supervision.
  • Flexible and capable of communicating along multiple time zones and managing multi-discipline geographically distributed teams, handling both technical and operational challenges.
  • Excels in multi-tasking and thrives in a fast-paced environment of continuous change.
  • Adaptive and able to navigate ambiguities.
  • Always willing and looking for ways to push the envelope of excellence and productivity.

Education

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (MS preferred).
