The Role
As a Technical Product Manager, you'll lead product strategies in transaction processing and work hands-on with engineering teams. You'll ensure effective communication with stakeholders, utilize agile methodologies for product development, and focus on building scalable orchestration layers.
Summary Generated by Built In

Kunai is a fast-growing digital consultancy focused on banking, payments, and fintech powered by a global network that attracts the best and brightest people from all backgrounds and cultures, driven by innovation and experimentation, spread across almost every single continent. Over the past decade, we've shipped over 150 products for clients that include Visa, American Express, Capital One, WEX, Wells Fargo, Ernst & Young, and TOMS Shoes. Our founders built a previous agency (Monsoon) that was acquired by Capital One in 2015.

As a Technical Product Manager, you'll be at the heart of developing an orchestration layer, partnering closely with engineering teams to create cutting-edge transaction processing solutions. Your blend of technical expertise and strong communication skills will bridge the gap between engineering and business stakeholders, ensuring that complex ideas are translated into successful, innovative products.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead with Vision: Develop and execute product strategies that align with our business goals, particularly in transaction processing.
  • Drive Innovation: Work hands-on with engineering teams to build and manage an orchestration layer that scales effectively and meets our performance standards.
  • Keep Everyone in the Loop: Regularly share progress updates with stakeholders through well-crafted presentations and reports.
  • Champion Agile Development: Use agile methodologies to guide the product development process, ensuring we deliver top-quality solutions on time.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Your Background: You have a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent military experience) and at least 4 years as a Product Manager or Product Owner. You’ve also rolled up your sleeves as a Data Engineer, Data Scientist, or Software Engineer.
  • Your Expertise: You have hands-on experience with orchestration layers, APIs/microservices, and data engineering or integration technologies.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Communication Skills: You excel at explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences, and you’re a pro at creating compelling presentations and reports using tools like Google Slides.
  • Analytical Mindset: You’re a natural problem-solver, especially when it comes to optimizing scalability and performance.
  • Team Player: You thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments and enjoy working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Bonus Points:

  • Advanced Education: A degree in Computer Science or Engineering is a big plus, and an MBA or Master’s degree would be even better.
  • Certifications: If you have certifications in product management or technical areas, that’s an added advantage.
  • Tech: Experience working with TSYS or similar payment gateway / solution.
