We're hiring a Technical Lead to take ownership of a critical member platform that sits at the centre of a large-scale loyalty ecosystem. This role is responsible for the systems that power account creation, member profiles, and core user journeys across a widely used digital platform. 

You'll be leading the evolution of this domain - balancing hands-on technical leadership with a strong understanding of business needs. It's a highly visible position, supporting multiple airline and non-airline partners across financial, retail and travel sectors.

There's a strong pipeline of impactful work already underway, including enhancements to member experiences, new product capabilities, and exploration into AI and Automation. This role will suit someone who wants to influence direction, not just deliver against it. 

Please note: the successful candidate will be required to go to our customers Central London office 2 days per week.  

Key responsibilities & duties include:

  • Lead the member platform domain, owning technical direction and delivery 
  • Manage incoming requests, shaping them into clear technical solutions 
  • Oversee delivery planning, ensuring scalability, reliability, and resilience 
  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to align technical solutions with user and commercial needs 
  • Support and guide engineering teams, including external suppliers 
  • Drive improvements in ways of working, team structure, and delivery processes 
  • Contribute to innovation initiatives, including AI and automation opportunities 
  • Ensure the platform continues to evolve to meet the needs of multiple partners and use cases 

Required skills

  • Proven experience as a Technical lead, bridging business and engineering teams 
  • Strong Java development background
  • Solid experience working with AWS cloud services 
  • Experience with GitHub and modern version control practices 
  • API management experience (ideally Kong or similar API Gateway tools) 
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end system flows, user journeys, and business processes 
  • Experience in delivery planning and maintaining operational resilience 
  • Ability to lead in a multi-supplier/vendor environment 
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge and influence 
  • Experience coaching and mentoring engineers, including handling performance and development conversations 

Desirable skills

  • Exposure to AI, automation, or emerging technologies (even at an exploratory level) 
  • Experience automating workflows within tools like Jira and Confluence 
  • Strong data awareness and ability to use data to inform decisions 
  • Background in loyalty platforms or similar customer-centric ecosystems 
  • Product mindset, with an interest in shaping future capabilities and user experiences
