We’re looking for a highly skilled Technical Lead to help elevate our customer's engineering practice, influence system design, and ensure top-quality software delivery. This is a purely technical leadership role, no people management, focused on architecture, technical delivery, and operational excellence across business-critical airline systems.
You’ll play a pivotal role in setting high standards for code quality, automation, and technical maintenance, and help drive modern, sustainable development practices. You'll be a visible and trusted technical voice, influencing senior stakeholders and ensuring alignment on non-functional priorities like performance, reliability, and scalability.
This role requires working onsite at our customer’s office in Dublin at least once a week.
Required skills:
Extensive hands-on experience in software development and system architecture
Advanced skills in Java and Groovy, with strong Spring Boot / Spring Framework expertise
Strong focus on software quality, with deep knowledge of design patterns, clean code, and modern engineering best practices
Proven experience building automated deployment and testing pipelines (CI/CD)
Confident influencing technical direction and senior business stakeholders, particularly around non-functional requirements (e.g. scalability, resilience, alerting)
Experience supporting and maintaining large-scale systems in production, with a proactive mindset for uptime and stability
Key responsibilities & duties include:
Own the technical lifecycle of key systems — from architecture and build to release and support
Champion code quality by reviewing pull requests, guiding peers, and embedding testing best practices
Lead architectural decisions on critical systems such as broker services and check-in kiosks
Drive the design of scalable, maintainable systems and work closely with ops and QA to ensure smooth deployment and alerting
Communicate complex technical topics clearly to non-technical stakeholders, pushing back where needed to protect engineering integrity
Desirable Skills:
Experience with MongoDB, including performance tuning and schema design
Hands-on knowledge of AWS, particularly Lambda or other serverless services
Exposure to the airline industry, especially in areas like operational disruption or check-in systems
