As a Technical Lead Software Engineer, you will lead a high-performing engineering squad within our Auckland innovation hub, delivering scalable, cloud-native solutions across our Veterinary Software platform. You’ll play a key role in solving complex challenges across Clinical, Practice Management, and Client Engagement domains while driving technical excellence and delivery outcomes.
The Veterinary Software division is focused on building a vertical SaaS platform dedicated to Animal Health. Our teams are scaling rapidly to accelerate our roadmap, unify our platforms, and deliver innovative solutions that improve veterinary workflows and strengthen connections between vets and pet parents.
In this role:You lead by example as a trusted technical role model and mentor
You design and document scalable, effective technical solutions
You build and deliver large-scale or complex projects that meet intended outcomes
You write clean, well-crafted, scalable, and maintainable code
You monitor, evaluate, and continuously improve solutions post-release in an Agile environment
You write high-quality unit tests to ensure code reliability
You perform senior-level code reviews that strengthen robustness and consistency
You refactor core framework components to enhance performance and scalability
You contribute meaningfully to high-level technology and architecture discussions
You collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to solve challenges at scale
You guide architectural decisions and influence technical direction within your squad
You contribute to CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and resilient distributed systems

What you need to succeed:Proven experience leading delivery and quality outcomes within one or more engineering teams
Strong technical capability across software design, architecture, and implementation
Deep understanding of object-oriented design, modular systems, and design patterns
Experience building, consuming, and evolving modern APIs
Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and solve complex engineering challenges
Experience guiding Agile delivery practices (Scrum, Kanban, or similar)
Strong understanding of cloud principles and best practices
Hands-on experience with modern web technologies (e.g. React)
Experience with backend technologies such as Go, TypeScript, or other OO languages
Experience working with AWS and cloud infrastructure platforms
Solid experience with unit testing and automated testing practices
Experience improving engineering culture and ways of working
Familiarity with DevOps practices, event-driven architectures, and containerized systems
