We’re looking for a Technical Lead (IC Role) to join our Growth Platforms team — the core engine behind Paystone’s automation and data systems. You’ll be a key technical leader driving the architecture, performance, and scalability of systems that power thousands of customer interactions every day.
This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives on solving complex problems, designing scalable systems, and mentoring engineers — without the distractions of people management.
💡 What You’ll Do- Architect and build scalable, distributed systems that power customer automation and growth.
- Drive technical direction across backend and frontend domains, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Mentor and elevate other engineers through thoughtful code reviews, design discussions, and best practices.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, and Data teams to deliver impactful, measurable results.
- Continuously improve our engineering practices — from CI/CD to observability and testing frameworks.
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including deep expertise in system design and scalability.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript / TypeScript and Node.js, plus experience with at least one modern front-end framework (React, Vue, or Angular).
- Proven experience deploying and maintaining services on GCP, AWS, or Azure.
- Solid understanding of microservices, API design, and event-driven architecture.
- Comfortable working with SQL/NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, Firestore, or MongoDB.
- Bonus: exposure to Terraform, Kubernetes, performance tuning, or observability tooling.
