We’re looking for a freelance Technical Lead with strong expertise in mobile app development to act as a consultant for a comprehensive app redesign. In this role, you will partner closely with our design and strategy teams, providing the technical insight needed to create a scalable, visually cohesive, and user-centric app experience. You will guide our team in defining the technical requirements, architecture, and best practices necessary to support the app’s long-term success, without direct involvement in the development work.


You are available 11/18/2024-2/21/2025 at 10 hours/week to help with consulting for this project.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the technical advisor on app architecture and design system strategy, helping to ensure scalability, performance, and consistency
  • Collaborate with design and strategy teams to establish a cohesive visual language and UI system, advising on technical feasibility and alignment with industry best practices
  • Provide expert guidance on structuring a scalable design system, identifying reusable UI components and patterns to create a unified app experience
  • Review design concepts to validate technical soundness and compatibility with mobile standards, offering solutions to potential technical challenges
  • Advise on roadmap planning, helping to outline technical milestones and resources needed for development
  • Support with design system and motion implementation for iOS and Android with React Native

What You'll Bring

  • Extensive experience as a Technical Lead or mobile app consultant, with a background in guiding technical strategy for mobile applications
  • Deep understanding of mobile architecture, UI systemization, and the creation of scalable design systems
  • Proven ability to translate design objectives into actionable technical requirements, supporting a cohesive and efficient development process
  • Strong consulting and communication skills, with the ability to guide cross-functional teams and align on strategic priorities
  • Familiarity with industry best practices in mobile UX/UI, design system implementation, and performance optimization
  • React Native and app implementation experience (iOS and Android)

Pay Range

  • The expected pay range for this role is $84-$103 per hour (on a 1099), but will depend on the level in which you are engaged
  • Our company has three regional pay bands that it adheres to depending on your location, we reference them as US 1, US 2, and US 3.
  • US 3 is our base pay. Examples of cities in US 3 are Portland, Houston and Miami.
  • US 2 pay is 7.5% higher than US 3 to meet the market rates. Examples of cities in US 2 are Los Angeles, Chicago and Seattle.
  • US 1 pay is 15% higher than US 3 to meet market rates. Examples of cities in US 1 are Brooklyn and San Francisco.
