Position Summary
The Technical Lead provides senior hands-on engineering leadership for CT Results technology, owning the technical design and delivery of complex solutions that process, integrate, and surface clinical results data. At the P4 level, the role makes decisions that impact the function or geography, anticipates and resolves key technical problems, and drives solutions across the CT Results area. It influences complex technical issues, builds relationships across teams, and mentors engineers. Consistent with Lilly's technology direction, the Technical Lead is deeply technical and AI-skilled—embedding AI-assisted engineering and agentic capabilities into results data pipelines and championing modern, responsible engineering practice.
Key Responsibilities
Own the technical design and delivery of complex CT Results solutions—scalable, secure, resilient, and compliant.
Anticipate and resolve key technical, operational, and data problems that impact the CT Results function.
Embed AI-assisted engineering (code generation, automated testing, anomaly detection) and agentic capabilities into results data pipelines to accelerate delivery and improve quality.
Serve as a key technical resource for CT Results, providing depth and breadth of engineering expertise.
Make technical decisions, within functional, company, and industry guidelines, that impact the function.
Lead technical design discussions and influence engineering decisions across teams, gaining support on difficult technical issues.
Ensure results data solutions meet GxP, data-integrity, security, and performance requirements.
Build integrations and services connecting results data across clinical systems using modern patterns (APIs, event-driven architecture).
Mentor engineers and strengthen engineering and AI capability across the team.
Partner with solution managers, architects, and stakeholders to align delivery to standards and roadmaps.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
Engineering experience with depth and/or breadth in the discipline, recognized within a function or area.
Experience in leveraging AI in day-to-day engineering.
Experience across integration patterns, APIs, event-driven architecture, and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
Experience with anticipating and resolving key technical and data problems impacting a function.
Experience leading technical design discussions and influencing engineering decisions across teams.
Experience mentoring engineers and building technical capability.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong communication skills, able to influence complex technical issues and present to varied audiences.
Experience in clinical development, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), or a regulated (GxP) environment within pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare.
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Hands-on experience integrating AI/agentic capabilities into data pipelines.
Familiarity with clinical results data standards and data-integrity requirements.
Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code.
Relevant cloud or AI/ML certifications.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$124,500 - $182,600Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
