Technical Lead Bioinformatics Scientist

About the Role
We are seeking a Technical Lead Bioinformatics Scientist to help us analyze complex, high volume sensor data to support research and clinical initiatives. You will primarily work in MatLab, but experience with Python is a plus. If you are passionate about solving challenges at scale, enjoy working with high volume time series data, we’d love to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- Conduct bioinformatics analysis of complex timeseries sensor data to support research and clinical initiatives
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and provide technical mentorship.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to integrate bioinformatics methods and tools into ongoing projects
- Develop and maintain databases and software pipelines for the organization and analysis of large datasets
- Stay current with advancements in bioinformatics and apply new techniques and technologies to improve research outcomes
- Communicate findings and results to colleagues and stakeholders through presentations and reports
- Work with clinical and research teams to identify and prioritize key research questions and data analysis needs
- Support the development and implementation of new bioinformatics workflows and protocols
- Ensure data integrity and quality control measures are in place and adhered to
- Adhere to all regulatory and ethical standards in handling and analyzing sensitive data
- Actively contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Accomplishes department objectives by supervising staff and organizing and monitoring work processes.
- Train and mentor junior team members on bioinformatics techniques and tools
- Accomplishes staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.
- Administers performance reviews
Minimum Qualifications
- 10+ years of backend development experience, preferably in Java.
- Deep understanding of taking a concept and developing a product.
- Experience with contained workflows taken to scale.
- Experience optimizing
- Proven experience working with large-scale, high-throughput sensor time series data.
- Solid hands-on experience with MatLab or Python, and time-series databases like InfluxDB or TimescaleDB.
- Proficient in Neural Nets and Machine Learning.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong sense of ownership.
Preferred Qualifications (Bonus Points)
- Experience with Python.
- Experience with Deep Learning techniques
