About Talent Dev 

Learning and Development, an integral part of the Talent Development Center of Excellence. The L&D team drives critical capability building, while ensuring holistic learning experience at Thoughtworks. 

This role will directly report to Europe L&D. In this role, you will have the opportunity to build critical technical capabilities for the region.   

To be successful in this role you will need to be strategic, proactive, able to work independently but collaboratively, manage different stakeholders, while looking for ways to continuously improve TWers' learning experience.  

Job responsibilities

  • The Technical L&D Specialist is responsible for designing and executing scalable, sustainable and effective training solutions that address the technical learning and development needs for the Europe region in connection with the Advanced Tech Academy.
  • They partner closely with technology leaders regionally to understand needs, ensure the L&D solutions are effectively helping to close skills gaps, and with the support of the Head of L&D in the region and the Academy Lead, integrate those technical learning solutions into the broader portfolio.
  •  This role will play a key role in designing new programs and learning solutions to help elevate the technical L&D offerings. This role will continue to evolve as our organization moves to a centralized model and we will look to the Technical L&D Specialist to support that evolution with the rest of the L&D team.

Job qualifications

Technical Skills
  • Partner with Technical Leaders, Demand and Staffing to understand specific technical gaps and upcoming technical needs
  • Collaborate with the other L&D specialists in the region and from the Academy to support regional initiatives. This may include but is not limited to: communicating opportunities to Thoughtworkers, managing participant selection, running an Academy program, and or contributing to the design and build of an Academy initiative
  • Design new technical training programs and creative learning solutions to address technical capability gaps 
  • Evolve existing technical training programs based on analysis and feedback data and evaluate external technical training options for fit with Thoughtworks needs
  • Coordinate communications, scheduling and execution for technical training events . Also, coordinate the curation of technical self guided learning 
  • Prepare other facilitators to effectively lead technical training programs and collaborate with technical SMEs to find opportunities to help share their knowledge internally
  • Build your own skills in Learning & Development including facilitation, communication, and instructional design. 
  • Use our internal learning platform Campus to promote learning offerings with Thoughtworkers and experience in enabling a strategic change program across Europe
  • Cross functional collaboration with other L&D specialists, leaderships and thought leaders 
  • Working with TWs global Thought Leaders and SMEs.Grow learning & capability development skills and experience. Also,Ability to measure success of critical programs and work in diverse team

Professional Skills

  • At least 3 years of experience in a professional services company as part of L&D in a similar technical role. General business acumen and additional technical knowledge are also desired
  • Be passionate about all things learning
  • Experience in designing technical training solutions 
  • Strategic thinking skills to approach constraints and challenges with fresh perspectives and a willingness to experiment
  • Background in designing multi-format learning (classroom and online) materials, especially for delivery across remote locations is useful, but not essential
  • Good English communication skills and knowledge on how to make material accessible to people of different abilities & in different languages is helpful
  • Enabling the regions to most effectively implement the program (process/tools) as well as encourage and harvest regional innovations
  • Self-motivation and organization.  The work is in a small, supportive, distributed team. In keeping with a global role, meetings can be at odd hours, and you need drive to keep stuff moving
  • The work will be in Europe time zone - Time flexibility from time to time might be needed, but we can work around it.
