About the position...
We are seeking a talented, experienced (mid or senior) Technical Designer to join our design team to help develop narrative-based, adventure gameplay inspired by Emirati culture using our multiplayer creation sandbox engine and Unity. You will work directly with the design director, lead engineer, and the rest of the team on the design and implementation of quests that explore different eras in UAE history and contextualize traditional cultural practices through fun gameplay.
Our ideal candidate has experience using Unity to design and implement adventure gameplay, specifically doing quest design and technical design implementation in the Unity engine or using design tools like Unreal’s Blueprint system or other scripting system. This person will be a contributor to the growth, culture, and ultimate success of the project and studio.
The Technical Designer will also sometimes function as a 'player-coach' helping players and students use our sandbox engine to make their own games to explore Emirati culture and history.
As our Technical Designer, you will...
- Propose and implement gameplay that challenges players to be curious and explore adventure quests in hand-crafted gameplay spaces.
- Work with the Design Director, and the rest of the team to create compelling, immersive game experiences. Collaborate with Production to ensure design work is planned and progressing as expected according to project goals.
- Work with our cultural partners to help make the game's world as authentic as possible to their culture and worldview.
- Lead collaborative sessions with subject matter experts and other project
stakeholders to explore opportunities to align gameplay with cultural goals.
