Role Description:

As the Technical Director, you will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) Leader for all aspects of Carbon Projects, Climate Consulting, and Sustainability at ProClime. Your primary responsibility will be to drive the development and execution of large-scale Carbon Projects, ensuring high-impact outcomes across several areas, including Afforestation and Reforestation (ARR), Blue Carbon, REDD+, Clean Energy Transition, Sustainable Agriculture, and Green Urban Development. In this role, you will lead a multi-disciplinary team and provide strategic guidance on carbon markets, credit issuance processes, compliance standards (such as VERRA, Gold Standard, CDM, etc.), and carbon trading mechanisms. Additionally, you will engage with senior stakeholders from governments, corporations, global registries, and think tanks, leveraging your network to build partnerships and create business opportunities. A key aspect of this position will involve hands-on participation in project design, documentation, and delivery, ensuring that ProClime's initiatives align with global standards of credibility and financial viability. Your expertise in climate investment strategies, carbon policy, and regulatory compliance will be essential for positioning ProClime as a leader in the sustainability sector. This is a high-visibility leadership role that requires exceptional strategic thinking, technical expertise, stakeholder management, and team mentorship skills. You will be instrumental in shaping the future of ProClime’s carbon consulting practice while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and industry credibility.


Roles & Responsibilities:
  • To be a Subject Matter Expert Leader on all aspects of Carbon Projects, Climate Consulting & Sustainability across all service lines that ProClime offers.  
  • Demonstrated experience across the full development cycle of large-scale Carbon Projects in at least four of the following areas (with the aptitude to pick up and implement projects in all other areas) : 
    • Afforestation, Reforestation, & Revegetation (ARR) 
    • Blue Carbon (Mangroves, Tidal Wet Lands, Sea Grass, etc) 
    • Sustainable Agriculture and Land Management (SALM) 
    • Reduction of Emissions through the prevention of Deforestation and Degradation (REDD+) 
    • Climate, Community & Bio-Diversity (CCB), Improved Forestry Management (IFM) 
    • Clean Energy Transition, Clean Fuel Transition 
    • Sustainable Transportation & Mobility  
    • Sustainable & Green Urban and Regional Development, etc 
  • Thorough understanding of the Carbon Markets, including  
    • Registration and Issuance Processes for Carbon Credits in the Global Voluntary Carbon Registries and Standards (VERRA, Gold Standard, Global IREC standard, CDM, GCC, Puro Earth, CORSIA etc), and the compliance standards and procedures prescribed by them 
    • understanding of Carbon Trading platforms, mechanisms and exchanges and 
    • familiarity with Client Target Groups for Carbon Credit Buying and Off takes 
  • Demonstrable experience in dealing with Clients and Stakeholders at senior & decision-making levels – including in Governments, Corporate & Industrial Sectors, Global Registries, Think Tanks & Knowledge Partners. Should use the past network to help build partnerships & opportunities.  
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring a multi-dimensional Team of professionals working across diverse domains in Carbon Projects business and Consulting.  
  • Thoroughly Hands-on approach with the ability to dive into Project details, and help the Teams in end-to-end project design, documentation, and delivery. 
  • Acumen for understanding the Commercial & Financial Metrics of the Carbon Projects being taken up and implemented by ProClime. 
  • Past exposure to Climate Investment Strategies, including interfacing with stakeholders from the multilateral and institutional funding agencies is desirable. 
  • Past Exposure to Policy matters in the Climate and Carbon Trading Space – specifically in International & Cross-Border scenarios, is desirable. 
  • Should play a key role in setting up and maintaining robust Internal Compliance structures, as per the Global expectations for Credibility & Bankability of projects, and as required for any applicable Carbon Audits & Benchmarking standards. 
  • Presentable, well-spoken & well-groomed - with sufficient gravitas to project & maintain the position of being a leader in the company, with both internal & external stakeholders. 


Skills & Qualification:
  • Graduation – in a Technical or Scientific discipline.  
  • Exceptional Candidates with graduation in a Social or Business discipline from a reputed school, with demonstrable subject matter expertise to handle the technical aspects of the job, can also be considered.  
  • Post-graduation - an MBA / Masters degree in Sustainability & Climate area - is preferable. 
  • Demonstrable experience of having successfully led Carbon Projects(AFOLU and/or Technology-Based) across the Project Lifecycle. 
  • Additional experience in Corporate Sustainability Consulting & ESG, Climate Change Advisory, Carbon Markets, etc highly desirable. 
  • Should have experience working in a recognized Climate, Carbon, and Sustainability services company. 
  • Proven abilities in leading team sizes of 15 – 20, consisting of Climate SMEs, Carbon Project Managers, Sustainability Consultants etc. 
  • 18+ years of experience require


Skills Required

  • Graduation in a technical or scientific discipline, or exceptional qualification in a social or business discipline with relevant technical subject matter expertise
  • Post-graduation MBA or master's degree in sustainability and climate-related studies
  • Successful leadership of carbon projects across the full project lifecycle, including AFOLU and/or technology-based projects
  • Experience in corporate sustainability consulting, ESG, climate change advisory, or carbon markets
  • Experience working for a recognized climate, carbon, and sustainability services company
  • Experience leading teams of 15–20 climate subject matter experts, carbon project managers, and sustainability consultants
  • 18 or more years of professional experience
  • Experience across at least four carbon project areas, such as ARR, blue carbon, sustainable agriculture, REDD+, CCB, IFM, clean energy, sustainable transportation, or green urban development
  • Thorough understanding of carbon markets, carbon-credit registration and issuance, trading platforms, exchanges, and credit buyers
  • Experience engaging senior stakeholders in government, corporate, industrial, registry, think-tank, and knowledge-partner organizations
  • Experience leading and mentoring multidisciplinary carbon project and consulting teams
  • Hands-on experience in project design, documentation, and delivery
  • Understanding of commercial and financial metrics for carbon projects
  • Exposure to climate investment strategies and multilateral or institutional funding agencies
  • Exposure to international and cross-border climate policy and carbon trading matters
  • Ability to establish and maintain internal compliance structures for carbon audits, benchmarking, credibility, and bankability
