BDG architecture + design is seeking a skilled and motivated Technical Designer to join our team in London. We're looking for someone with a passion for innovative building solutions and a solid foundation in the technical aspects of architectural projects. BDG architecture + design is a team of 45 people, a mix of architects, designers, strategists, and communicators, spread across 3 studios in London, New York and Sao Paulo.

We pride ourselves on being specialists in adaptive re-use of buildings and workplace design, the team are highly tech-savvy, enthusiastic and passionate about design. We believe that workplace design should be people focused and that great design serves to enhance the lives of those who inhabit the space. What you'll do:

  • Collaborate and work within teams to deliver all technical stages of diverse building projects, from historic renovations to new constructions.
  • Collaborate with project teams and clients to translate architectural concepts into detailed design plans.
  • Utilize Revit to create accurate and comprehensive models and drawings.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and legal regulations.
  • Contribute to material selection, aligning choices with the design brief and project requirements.
  • Leverage BIM process understanding to prepare tender documentation and assist in project management.
  • Gather and analyze technical data.
  • Regular site visits, tracking construction progress and inspecting completed work.
  • Contribute to BDG Research Initiative Teams, exploring and implementing technological innovations in design.

 What you'll need:

  • BSc in Architectural Technology.
  • Relevant commercial experience, having worked on projects from initial concept to completion.
  • Proficiency in Revit (essential), AutoCAD, Enscape, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Solid understanding of building details, regulations, and the BIM process, demonstrable through project experience.
  • Proven ability to gather and analyze technical data, prepare tender documentation, and assist in project management.
  • Practical site experience, including tracking progress and inspecting completed work.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving and design.
  • Passion for architecture and a keen interest in contributing to technology innovation in design.
