The Position
Continued growth has created an exciting opportunity for a Technical Data Business Analyst to join our Technology Services Group.
In this role, you will work at the intersection of business analysis, data analytics, and BI solution delivery. You will collaborate with high-performing professionals across diverse industries, supporting clients as they modernize their data capabilities, enhance decision-making, and implement effective technology solutions.

The ideal candidate combines strong business analysis expertise with technical proficiency in SQL, Power BI, Tableau, and data interpretation. You are curious, adaptable, and motivated to translate complex business problems into structured, data-driven insights and requirements.

Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Consulting
• Lead and support end-to-end business analysis activities for data, analytics, and technology projects.
• Facilitate requirements workshops and interviews to gather business needs, data requirements, user stories, and functional specifications.
• Develop clear and complete business analysis documentation, including:
o Business Requirement Documents (BRDs)
o Functional Requirements Documents (FRDs)
o User stories and acceptance criteria
o Process maps, swimlane diagrams, and data flow diagrams
o System-to-system data mapping
o Requirements traceability matrices
• Participate in project planning, status reporting, and preparation of client deliverables, presentations, and recommendations.
• Support identification of project risks and issues and contribute to the development of mitigation plans.
• Communicate complex data and technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Technical Analysis & SQL
• Conduct advanced data analysis using SQL to explore datasets, validate requirements, troubleshoot issues, and support solution design.
• Write and optimize queries to join, filter, cleanse, aggregate, and quality-check data from multiple sources.
• Perform data profiling to understand data quality, structure, lineage, and constraints.
• Interpret data models, schemas, and metadata to ensure alignment between business requirements and technical capabilities.
• Support data integration, data warehousing, and analytics initiatives by translating business needs into precise data specifications.
Power BI & Tableau Development
• Design and develop dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Power BI and Tableau, applying best practices in UI/UX, data storytelling, and analytics.
• Identify and define KPIs and metrics in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Translate analytical findings into meaningful insights that support business decision-making.
• Produce strong documentation for BI assets, including data sources, calculations, measures, logic, and business rules.
Tableau-Specific Expertise
• Build advanced Tableau features, including LOD Expressions, Table Calculations, and calculated fields.
• Demonstrate familiarity with Tableau Server/Online, Tableau Prep, publishing workflows, and administration basics.
Power BI–Specific Expertise
• Develop sophisticated Power BI models using DAX, measures, and calculated columns.
• Analyze and optimize existing datasets, reports, and published scripts.
• Understand architectural implications across Power BI Pro, Premium, and Embedded environments.

Qualifications
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Business Analyst or Business Systems Analyst.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience developing dashboards and analytics using Power BI and Tableau.
• Strong SQL skills with experience performing data profiling, validation, and technical analysis.
• University degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.

• Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical audiences.

• Strong work ethic, enthusiasm, and commitment to professional growth.
Desirable Skills
• Experience gathering data-oriented requirements and collaborating with data engineering or analytics teams.
• Familiarity with data modeling, data warehousing concepts, and data integration workflows.
• Exposure to ETL/ELT concepts or tools (e.g., Alteryx, ADF, SSIS) is an asset.
• Basic experience with Python for data manipulation, scripting, or automation.
• Experience working with Agile, waterfall, or hybrid project delivery methodologies.
• Prior technology advisory or management consulting experience.
• Certifications such as CBAP, PMP, or BI/analytics platform certifications (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).

Compensation:
• Salary Range: $82,500-$130,000 annually (subject to negotiation and subject to the candidate meeting the specific skills, experience, education, and qualification requirements)
