Technical Business Analyst

ScottishPower HQ, Glasgow (hybrid)

Salary from £50,400 + up to 10% bonus & other excellent benefits

Help us create a better future, quicker!

At ScottishPower, we’re looking for a Technical Business Analyst to join our Customer Business Centre of Excellence, Architecture and Technology team.

What you will be doing

This is a hands-on technical role supporting a range of business-critical applications across different technologies and third-party suppliers. You’ll help keep these systems stable, secure and performing effectively. The role will involve supporting technical upgrades, application releases and cloud migration projects. You’ll investigate system issues, troubleshoot problems and use technical analysis to identify practical solutions. You’ll also play an important role in maintaining system security. This includes operational monitoring, vulnerability management and delivering remediation activity to reduce risk.

Working across the wider Customer Business and IT teams, you’ll help deliver application solutions from initial analysis and design through to development, testing and deployment. You’ll also work closely with third-party suppliers to make sure development and support are delivered to the expected quality and timescales. Strong communication skills will be important. You’ll need to explain technical solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior management, while helping prioritise activity based on business impact and customer benefit.

What you will bring

We’re looking for someone with a degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a similar technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience. You’ll have experience delivering IT projects and technical solutions, ideally gained in a role such as Technical Analyst or Developer.

Experience of designing end-to-end solutions across different technologies would be valuable. Knowledge of Agile or Scrum, cloud architectures, Oracle databases, AWS, SQL, Java, XML or APIs would also be useful.

Experience within the UK energy retail or utilities sector is welcome, as is knowledge of smart metering technologies.

If you enjoy getting into the detail of systems, solving technical problems and working with different teams to deliver reliable solutions, this could be a great opportunity to join ScottishPower.

What’s in it for you

As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits. With our pension scheme, we’ll double match your contribution up to a company contribution of 10%.

At ScottishPower, we believe it’s the little things we do in life that make a big difference. From helping you look after your family’s wellbeing, save for your future and take personal steps for climate action – our benefits are designed to help you do just that - so that you have everything you need to take care of your world – today and tomorrow.
