Role Summary
We are seeking a Technical Business Analyst with a strong data background to join our Business Analysis & Data Solutions team in Baarn. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on SQL, Power BI and data modelling experience who enjoys the business side: understanding how real estate finance and operations work, and turning that into precise data and reporting requirements. The role is based in our Baarn office in the Netherlands, with in-office presence required for at least three days per week.
Cerberus is bringing its real estate data and reporting platform in-house, with the Microsoft Fabric backend moving from an external partner to our internal team. You will start at the centre of that transition and, as the platform matures, extend your scope to other projects, asset classes and lines of business across Cerberus Europe. The Business Analysis & Data Solutions team is part of our Business Optimization Team, a Netherlands-based team of 12 people in Baarn. Working side by side with our Data Engineers and Power BI specialists, you will make sure that what gets built matches what the business actually needs. We work AI-first: you will use tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Copilot in Fabric and Power BI, and Copilot Studio every day to write and review SQL, draft requirements and test cases, document models and analyse data, and you will keep testing new AI capabilities to find where they make the team faster.
What you will do
You will own the path from business question to report. Your first focus is the real estate data platform in Microsoft Fabric: defining the Silver and Gold layers of the medallion architecture, shaping the rebuilt semantic model and guiding the migration of reports such as tenancy, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, capex and loans. Day to day, you will translate requests from business users into clear functional and technical requirements, prioritise them and follow them through to delivery. Once the real estate platform is in place, you will bring the same approach to other projects and to real estate and other asset classes and lines of business across Cerberus Europe. The reporting estate you support today is almost 40 Power BI reports used across finance, treasury, asset management and leasing.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Own requirements and data mapping end to end: from Yardi source tables, through the Fabric lakehouse and warehouse and the semantic model, to the final Power BI report.
- Translate business requests into functional and technical specifications, user stories and clear acceptance criteria, and manage and prioritise the backlog in Azure DevOps.
- Use AI as a core part of your toolkit: apply Copilot and other AI tools to accelerate requirements, SQL, data validation, documentation and testing; experiment with new AI features and agents as they become available; and share what works so the whole team gets faster.
- Validate data with SQL and, where it helps, get hands-on in Microsoft Fabric (queries, notebooks, dataflows and lakehouse checks) to reconcile migrated reports against legacy outputs, including the general ledger, rent roll and loan schedules, before anything goes live.
- Build an understanding of the measures in the semantic model (DAX experience is a plus, not a must), and document KPI definitions and the data dictionary so every number has a clear, agreed meaning.
- Define and monitor master data and data quality controls, and run sanity checks on new data sources as the platform extends to other asset classes.
- Lead user acceptance testing with business users, manage release and sign-off, and act as the day-to-day contact for finance, accounting and asset management stakeholders.
We are looking for someone who is technically curious and genuinely interested in the business. The right candidate is comfortable writing a SQL query to prove a point, can discuss a star schema with an engineer and a variance with a controller, and enjoys turning complex finance and real estate processes into precise data requirements. You are structured, pragmatic and persistent about getting the numbers right. Above all, you are an early adopter of AI: you enjoy testing new AI tools, use them as much as possible to get more done in less time, and are critical enough to check and improve what they produce.
The team
You will join the Business Analysis & Data Solutions team, part of our young, motivated Business Optimization Team of 12 people in the Netherlands, which also includes Data Engineers, Project Managers, Power BI Specialists, Data Warehousing experts and Workflow / Power Platform Developers. You will also work closely with experienced IT specialists in the United States.
Benefits of This Role:
- Modern Data Stack: Work hands-on with Microsoft Fabric, including lakehouses, notebooks, dataflows, a medallion architecture and enterprise semantic models, starting with our real estate data platform.
- End-to-end Ownership: Take responsibility for the full chain from source system to report, rather than a single step in someone else's process.
- Business Exposure: Gain a deep understanding of investment and real estate operations across Europe, working directly with finance, accounting and asset management teams.
- AI-first Way of Working: Work hands-on with Microsoft Copilot, Copilot in Fabric and Power BI, Copilot Studio and Azure AI Foundry in our secured enterprise environment. You get the room to experiment, automate parts of your own work and help shape how the team uses AI to deliver faster, while also using it to master new technologies such as DAX and Fabric quickly.
This role offers a clear path to grow from business analysis into broader ownership of the data platform, toward a product owner or solution architect role. You will deepen your technical expertise in Microsoft Fabric and Power BI while learning how data supports investment operations, financial control and business optimization across Cerberus Europe.
