About DWS:
At DWS, we’re capturing the opportunities of tomorrow. You can be part of a leading, client-committed, global Asset Manager, making an impact on individuals, communities, and the world.
Join us on our journey, and you can shape our transformation by working side by side with industry thought-leaders and gaining new and diverse perspectives. You can share ideas and be yourself, whilst driving innovative and sustainable solutions that influence markets and behaviours for the better.
Role Description
We are seeking a Technical Business Analyst & Automation Engineer to bridge business requirements and technology delivery in a complex Asset Management environment. The role combines deep business analysis expertise with handson technical skills in data analysis, automation, scripting, and system integration.
You will work closely with Front Office, Middle Office, Operations, and Technology teams to translate business and regulatory needs into scalable technical solutions, while actively contributing to automation, data validation, and integration activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and automate business and regulatory requirements by designing and delivering technical solutions across data, integration, and workflow layers
- Translate business needs into executable technical designs, SQL logic, automation scripts, and integration specifications
- Build and maintain automation solutions using Python and scripting to support data processing, validation, reconciliation, reporting, and operational workflows
- Develop and execute SQL and Oracle (PL/SQL) queries, procedures, and data transformations to support implementations and testing
- Actively support and validate system integrations (APIs, batch interfaces, messaging) using XML, JSON, and structured data formats
- Work hands‑on with development teams to implement solutions, not just define them, including configuration, data setup, and functional enablement
- Analyse existing systems and processes to identify automation opportunities and reduce manual effort
- Design, execute, and automate system and functional tests, supporting end‑to‑end testing and production readiness
- Support deployments, rollouts, and post‑go‑live stabilization, including issue analysis and resolution
- Collaborate closely with Front Office, Middle Office, Operations, and Technology teams to ensure solutions meet business needs and are operable at scale
Required Skills
- 10+ years of experience in technical business analysis, engineering, or similar hybrid roles, with 5+ years in Asset Management or Financial Services
- Strong understanding of trading, portfolio management, assets, and asset classes (fixed income and equities)
- Hands‑on experience with SQL, Oracle (PL/SQL), and complex data models
- Strong experience with Python and scripting for automation and data processing
- Experience implementing and supporting integrations, including APIs and batch interfaces (XML, JSON)
- Proven experience delivering working solutions, not just documentation
- Solid understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies, including testing and release processes
- Experience supporting regulatory or ESG‑related implementations (data, reporting, controls)
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (data analysis, validation), plus Word, PowerPoint, and Visio
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across business and technical teams
- Fluent in English (written and spoken); German is a plus
