The Technical and Training Director Americas is responsible for consistent operational execution of training programs to drive PPG Automotive Refinish coatings growth within the Americas region including management of Business Development Centers (BDCs). Incumbent will lead a team of Technical Trainers and BDC Managers to promote our value proposition with existing and prospective customers. The Technical and Training Director will also be responsible for overseeing the Product Customer Support team that serves distributors and body shops.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Management of technical training and BDC teams to execute growth plan for US / Canada and Latin America across focused segments including Collision, Commercial Transport / Light Industrial Coatings and Allied Products
- Oversee Product Customer Support team
- Partner with Global resources to customize and deploy training curriculum locally
- Collaborate with the sales team to determine training priorities tied to strategic customers and volume growth
- Train the trainer sales team deployment to maximize reach and impact
- Support product launches, application and demos for traditional coatings, allied products and digital solutions
- Manage recertification programs, PPG Knowledge College and certification maintenance with I-CAR
- Support local application and quality / performance claims management
Minimum Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, business or a related degree
- 10 years+ of relevant experience
- Experience collaborating on a global team to drive results
- Demonstrates creativity and problem-solving skills
- Professional and positive approach, self-motivated, team player
- Excellent communicator with ability to influence and persuade across all levels of the organization
- Exercises a high degree of tact and diplomacy
- Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to clearly present recommendations and ideas to summarize complex issues
- Organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to travel as needed
