Job Responsibilities:
JOB SUMMARY:
Assist Supervisor in achieving business goals and improving productivity. Ensuring all teams are performing at the highest level of quality in the most efficient manner possible, while meeting customer requirements. Responsible for conducting standardized work observations with operators on a regular basis and assisting in the preparation of standardized work documents. Serves as a facilitator to the work team in areas of problem solving, issue resolution, continuous improvement and training. Ensures that a safe and organized work environment is maintained at all times. Accessible to the production floor 100% of the time. Must be able to perform positions/tasks required to support the team. Accountable for results in area of responsibility.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Check that all pre-production safety, quality and productivity checks are completed by Team Members Perform LPA's, opens containers, ensure rotation and policies are followed within coverage area, answer bells, perform housekeeping activities, run on lines covering for unplanned breaks to reduce downtime, as needed. Support Team Members performing defined autonomous maintenance activities Escalate safety, quality, and productivity issues according to defined escalation process Review of previous shift information regarding safety, quality, and productivity issues Make work assignment adjustments based on absenteeism, training, etc. and in the Supervisor's absence, determine allocation of overtime and submit requests for OT approval and assign employees to work cells/machines daily. Walk the production area to confirm and maintain 5S checklist, ensure 5S performance, equipment readiness, and material supply conditions are to standard at the beginning and end of each shift Perform pre-shift meetings Prepare safety, quality and productivity communication for next shift Review hour-by-hour performance at the work station hourly at a minimum and take action to solve problems that impact performance, report out performance to Supervisor along with any issues that prevent team from reaching their goal Participating in maintenance, training, and continuous improvement of Team Member Standardized Work and tag relief for employees who need to leave the line Observing each Team Member performing cycle standardized work once per week following at a minimum the questions defined in the Magna Corporate Standardized Work observation standard to ensure that the work is being performed correctly, immediately address deviation, identify opportunities for improvement, and document the result Maintain an up-to-date training matrix for all team members Maintain L1 board Tracking of Leader Standard Work for Teamleader Follow all safety rules including but not limited to: wearing cut resistant gloves and sleeves when using a cutting tool, wearing safety glasses when on the shop floor and maintaining clear aisles and walkways. Provide direction to employees as needed and enforce discipline through corrective action recommendations to the Supervisor, after counseling the employee. Maintain kanban cards, make replacements, and enforce their use. Report all incidences to your supervisor immediately and, when applicable, completes their portion of incident/accident/witness reports. Participate, initiate, lead QC101 Problem Solving and continuous improvement events. Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved. Perform teardowns outside work cell, as needed Loads and unloads materials onto or from, pallets, racks, carts, and shelves by hand and cart Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area Counts, scans, weighs and records number of units of materials moved or handled Support Zebra functions during best times that support OEE and line performance You will be responsible for performing those duties listed above and responsibilities assigned to you by your Manager or his/her designees
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
Demonstrates EHS leadership by setting a good example. Trains and instructs employees so they can perform their work safely. Instructs employees on what personal protective equipment is needed. Ensure associates are trained in the safe use of equipment, material, and chemicals they will be using. Enforces safe work practices and procedures and encourages workers to identify unsafe or unhealthy workplace conditions or hazards without fear of discipline. Takes immediate steps to correct unsafe or unhealthy workplace hazards and ensure corrective measures are completed in a timely manner. Ensures employees are aware and follow all safety rules. Makes sure employee concerns related to EHS are addressed and contacts the EHS Department if assistance is needed. Ensures employees report accidents and injuries immediately. Is involved in the accident/incident investigation process.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Must have the ability and willingness to continue personal development activities/assignments. Capable of learning and performing all team jobs. Must have basic computer skills. Minimum 6 months experience, unless waived by company. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Must be able to repeatedly lift up to 35 lbs. during entire shift. Must support safety policies and practices that apply to assigned areas. Strong interpersonal skills, customer service skills, and ability to effectively interact with people. Demonstrated ability to lead and develop others to achieve daily goals. Must be able to communicate effectively (written and verbal). Must be self-motivated and have the ability to interpret data for corrective actions. Demonstrated positive performance record, strong dependability with a good attendance record. Must be willing to rotate worked areas, and work overtime to maintain floor coverage support for production. Ability to understand quality standards for each customer within the assigned area.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED, is required
Supervisory experience is recommended.
