Belvedere Trading is a leading proprietary trading firm proudly headquartered in downtown Chicago. Our traders work hard to provide liquidity to the market through their market-making activities and are the masters of a diverse set of commodities, interest rates, exchange-traded funds (ETF), and equity index options. From the beginning, we began iteratively investing in our proprietary technology and committing to building our systems from the ground up. Our trading models and software systems are continually re-engineered, optimized, and maintained to stay on top of the industry. This wouldn’t be possible without the dedicated efforts of our technology teams who utilize and perfect our innovative technology solutions.

High-performance proprietary development is the source of our success and competitive advantage at Belvedere, further fueling our passion for performance. We are a team driven by intellectual curiosity, seeking answers that will change not only how we trade in this technological age, but also the future landscape of the trading industry. We place a high premium on defining, developing, and deploying high performance trading software using a team-based, holistic development approach. We look for passionate team members that excel and their contribution is critical to our continued success.

The FPGA team is comprised of both hardware and software engineers responsible for the component that interfaces with the trading system down to the hardware. The FPGA Team Lead will work closely with our hardware and software engineers, traders, and analysts to identify latency-critical operations and evaluate FPGA based project feasibility based on hardware constraints. Belvedere Trading is looking for a self-starter with a track record of success as both an individual contributor as well as a manager. As a member of our team, successful candidates will direct their own learning, grow their expertise, and pass that knowledge onto other team members.

What You'll Do

  • Guide technical decision making as the owner of the products and architecture
  • Keep team focused on the most important projects and ensure deliverables are met
  • Clear communication of project estimates, timelines, and risks to product managers
  • Strong management of team members with various skillsets and tenure
  • Identify bottlenecks and unblock team members
  • Identify and prioritize technical debt
  • Strong focus on quality and testability of the hardware and software
  • Complete small features and bug fixes off the critical path
  • Active in data analysis and production support

What You'll Need

  • 5+ years in a technical/coding position
  • Experience managing and mentoring developers
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects through all phases of the hardware/software development lifecycle
  • Strong understanding of software and hardware interactions
  • Experience architecting and implementing new FPGA applications from the ground up preferred
  • Desire to learn and proactively improve
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Perform in a fast paced and collaborative environment

Women and underrepresented groups frequently apply to jobs only if they meet 100% of the qualifications.

We encourage you to break that mold and apply. No candidate is perfect; all have a lot to offer.

We welcome your application.

What We Do

In March of 2002, Belvedere Trading emerged as Chicago’s newest market maker, soon to join the ranks of the Windy City’s elite proprietary trading firms. Armed with printouts of Excel workbooks and a team of eager minds, Belvedere established their place in the SPX pit on the floor of the Chicago Board Options Exchange. From the beginning, we have iteratively invested in our proprietary technology and made a commitment to building our software systems from the ground up. Due to our ultramodern proprietary technology and risk management capabilities, Belvedere is able to quickly capitalize on inefficiencies in the marketplace. Our trading models and software systems are continually re-engineered, optimized, and maintained to stay on top of the industry. Building and nurturing a strong culture is one of Belvedere’s highest priorities, and we are always looking for the best and brightest talent to help us in our continued success.

Why Work With Us

At Belvedere, our differences are what allow us to compete and succeed at the highest level. Our Culture Committee and Women’s Initiative elevate the voices of our teammates to further promote an inclusive workplace. It is our priority to foster a sense of community and belonging for each team member while supporting individual development.
