The College is looking to appoint a permanent Teaching Assistant. The successful candidate will be part of the Support for Learning team that delivers effective support to students with SEND. The main purpose of the job role is to support and facilitate independent learning for students with additional needs. This support will be delivered to one or more students, in the classroom, and on a one-to-one or small group basis. Alongside this, the post holder will be a keyworker for a number of students with high needs.

Hours:
33.75hrs p/w, 39wks p/a (Term time only)
Contract: permanent
Salary: SCP 7, Scale Range 7–10, currently FTE £25,951-£27,733 pro rata (actual salary SCP 7 £20,302.88 p/a)

Key Responsibilities
The post holder will play an active part in ensuring that the College’s outcomes for students are achieved; namely, that students are retained, that they achieve and progress.  They will be part of the Learning Support team that delivers responsive and effective support to students with SEND.

To support and facilitate independent learning for students with SEND.
This support will be delivered to one or more students, in the classroom, and on a one-to-one or small group basis.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Experience of working with young people with SEND on a one to one or small group situation, in the classroom, in a school or college 
Experience of delivering individual support sessions, group sessions and in class support 
Experience of mentoring or tutoring individual students
Knowledge of special educational needs and disabilities 
Knowledge or a willingness to learn about safeguarding young people
Ability to relate to and support students with SEND
Ability to motivate and manage groups of students
Ability to deliver one to one support, individual study skills programmes, group sessions and in class support to a variety of learners with SEND
