Summary Generated by Built In

Correlation One is the largest provider of AI and data workforce development programs globally, having trained over 500,000 professionals across 11 countries. As the largest training provider for Amazon Career Choice, and a growing partner to governments and international development organizations, Correlation One sits at the intersection of employer talent needs and scalable workforce training.

We work with Fortune 500 enterprises, government agencies, and leading employers to close skills gaps in AI, data analytics, cybersecurity, and operations leadership. Our programs produce job-ready graduates who are prepared to contribute from day one.

About the program

We are proactively hiring Teaching Assistants (TAs) for the Data Annotation track of a new, fully virtual training-to-jobs program for young people in Somalia. The program prepares learners for remote and online work with employers worldwide, including data annotator, data labeler, AI data quality, and AI output evaluation roles.

Learners will build practical skills in labeling and evaluating text, audio, image, and video data used to train AI systems, and will finish with portfolio projects they can show to employers.

Schedule and cohort size: We are finalizing the program dates, live session days and times, and cohort size, and will share them with shortlisted candidates before any commitment is made. Live sessions will be scheduled during East Africa Time (EAT) hours, so please tell us your general availability when you apply.

Your impact

TAs give learners close, personal support so no one falls behind. You will help a small group of learners understand the material, practice it, and build the accuracy, consistency, and work habits remote employers look for; you will also step in early when a learner's attendance or progress starts to slip.

A day in the life

Onboarding (pre-program)

  • Attend and actively take part in the mandatory pre-program TA onboarding, where we walk through the program, set you up on our platforms, and share all training materials.

During live sessions

  • Monitor the program's Pumble or Slack channels and answer learner questions promptly.
  • Communicate clearly with learners in English, and in Somali when needed.
  • Facilitate breakout rooms and hands-on labeling practice during lectures, when applicable.
  • Check in with learners after each live session to see how they are finding the content and what needs more explanation.
  • Help keep the session running if the Lead Instructor experiences technical difficulties or is otherwise unable to deliver the lecture.
  • When assigned to cover a live lecture, be present throughout and address learner questions.

On days without live sessions

  • Answer learner questions on Pumble or Slack within 24 hours.
  • Foster discussion by posing questions and sharing useful resources in the appropriate Pumble or Slack channels.
  • Review upcoming materials (annotation guidelines, labeling exercises, projects) so you are ready to answer learner questions.
  • Hold individual office hours each week so learners can ask questions and get extra support.
  • Review and grade learner labeling exercises and projects within seven days of submission, with clear, encouraging feedback on accuracy and consistency.
  • Record short video walkthroughs for asynchronous assignments, such as annotation exercises and portfolio tasks.
  • Reach out to learners who miss sessions or fall behind, and flag concerns to the Correlation One team early.
  • Submit a weekly write-up summarizing the week's progress and challenges, with insights on each learner and suggested improvements.
  • Attend the weekly staff meeting with the Correlation One team and other TAs, with your camera on.
Your expertise (requirements)
  • Professional working proficiency in both Somali and English, spoken and written, with the ability to explain technical content in both.
  • A Data Annotation professional with 3+ years of experience in data annotation, data labeling, AI training data, data quality, or a related role.
  • Working experience with, and the ability to explain:

  • Dialogue and AI output evaluation: rating and comparing AI responses and writing clear human feedback
  • Quality checks: accuracy and consistency, and spotting and correcting labeling errors
  • Confidential and secure data handling
  • AI fundamentals: how labeled data is used to train AI
  • Hands-on experience with annotation and labeling platforms.
  • Strong leadership, communication, collaboration and organizational skills, with close attention to detail.
  • Empathy, flexibility, and patience, and a passion for working with learners who are new to technology.
  • Experience working in a fully virtual environment, and comfortable with Zoom, Pumble or Slack and online learning platforms.

Preferred

  • AWS Certified AI Practitioner (AIF-C01) or an equivalent AI certification.
