The Tax Senior reports directly to the Tax Manager and plays a key role in supporting the Company's tax function. Primary responsibilities include assisting with the review and resolution of federal, state, and local tax notices; coordinating tax data collection and maintaining tax workpapers; assisting with tax audits and information requests; supporting sales and use tax activities; researching tax matters; and assisting with special projects, tax planning initiatives, and other ad hoc requests. The position partners closely with internal departments and external tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate tax reporting and compliance.
- Support federal, state, and local tax audits by gathering documentation, preparing responses, and coordinating information requests
- Assist with sales and use tax processes, including registrations, exemption certificates, audits, and compliance reviews
- Prepare and maintain tax workpapers, supporting schedules, and tax records for management and external tax advisors
- Assist with review, tracking, and resolution of federal, state, and local tax notices and related correspondence
- Support tax planning initiatives and assist with tax matters related to legal entity changes and business acquisitions
- Research federal, state, and local tax matters and communicate findings and recommendations to management
- Analyze the tax impact of new legislation, regulations, and business transactions
- Assist in evaluating tax risks and recommending solutions to minimize exposure
- Work with Accounting, Legal, and external tax advisors to gather information related to corporate transactions
- Coordinate documentation, recordkeeping, and distribution activities related to Schedule K-1 reporting and Form 8594 purchase price allocations.
- Collaborate with the Tax Manager on ad hoc tax projects and special requests
- Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and assist with enhancing compliance and efficiency
- Assist in developing and enhancing tax processes, procedures, and internal controls
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and increased efficiency within assigned areas of responsibility
- Meet departmental goals and expectations and perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
- Oversee area of responsibility in a manner consistent with the Mission and Values of the Company
- Undergraduate degree (B.S. or equivalent) in Accounting
- Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in taxation, public accounting, or corporate tax
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax concepts
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, xlookup/vlookup, data analysis, and reconciliation of large datasets
- Experience researching and analyzing tax issues and interpreting tax regulations
- Experience supporting tax audits, tax notices, and information requests preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) with the ability to quickly learn and utilize tax and financial reporting systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex issues and develop practical solutions
- Organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with employees, management, external advisors, and taxing authorities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional judgment when handling sensitive information

- Undergraduate degree in Accounting or equivalent
