Responsibilities:

  • Review and manage deliverables including tax returns, extensions, tax planning calculations, all entity types (C-Corp, S-Corp, Partnership, Fiduciary, multi-state and TX franchise).
  • Prepare and review tax planning projections for individual and corporate estimated tax liability.
  • Manage and monitor client deliverables and due dates.
  • Review complex U.S. and multi-state income tax returns for business entities, including consolidated and nonconsolidated C-corporations, S-Corporations, Partnerships, and Fiduciaries.
  • Conduct complex tax research and prepare memorandum outlining findings and conclusions.
  • Respond to IRS and state agency audits, inquires, and tax notices. Communicate with IRS and clients in connection with audits, inquires, and tax notices.
  • Delegate projects to staff that can handle them most efficiently and provide accounting and tax assistance to staff as needed.
  • Communicate directly with existing clients, colleagues, management, and IRS representatives regarding various tax matters.
  • Develop and maintain long- term working relationships by ensuring client satisfaction and by providing timely and effective responses to client needs and concerns.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of multiple tax engagements and monitor accounting issues that arise over the course of the project. 
  • Train, mentor and coach team members to ensure a consistently level of high service.  Supervise staff members, seniors and supervisors.  Review the work product for completeness and accuracy prior to delivery to clients.  Write and deliver timely performance reviews to staff members, seniors and supervisors.
  • Work cooperatively with fellow tax managers to schedule staff and resources in the most efficient manner.  Monitor project timelines and budgets, anticipate issues and respond in a manner appropriate to the highest standard of service.
  • Communicate with shareholder about client relations, work progress and personnel issues. 
  • Keep up-to-date on regulatory changes and technology to continually improve service and productivity.
  • Maintain a congenial team environment that encourages dialogues and collaboration.
  • Assist in recruiting staff members.
  • Actively engage in business development opportunities through networking and marketing activities.
  • Assist with business development efforts, including but not limited to, meeting with prospective clients, preparing fee quotes and proposals, and evaluating clients’ needs.
  • Engage in consulting and special projects as requested.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • CPA
  • Minimum of 7 years of related work experience, preferably in mid-market firm or large accounting firm.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a management position
  • Ability to mentor, lead, and train staff
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • A proven record of maintaining and nurturing business relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent project and team management skills
  • Ability and desire to develop new business opportunities.
