Tax Intern

Neogen is seeking a Tax Intern to join our Corporate Tax team. This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience with corporate tax processes while working alongside experienced accounting and tax professionals. The intern will support a variety of tax compliance, reporting, research, and administrative activities while developing an understanding of tax operations within a global organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns and supporting workpapers.
• Gather, organize, and analyze financial information needed for tax compliance and reporting.
• Support preparation of tax account reconciliations and related schedules.
• Assist with sales and use tax, property tax, and other state and local tax activities as needed.
• Support quarterly and year-end income tax provision processes.
• Research basic tax issues and summarize findings for members of the Tax team.
• Assist with responding to tax notices and gathering documentation for audits or inquiries.
• Maintain tax files, documentation, and supporting schedules.
• Work with Accounting, Finance, and other business functions to obtain information needed for tax reporting and compliance.
• Assist with special projects, process improvements, and other tax-related activities as assigned.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Neogen's current internship listing specifically identifies Accounting or Finance students.
• Foundational understanding of accounting principles.
• Interest in corporate taxation and a desire to develop tax knowledge.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple assignments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Coursework in federal taxation, corporate taxation, or related accounting subjects.
• Previous accounting, finance, or tax internship/work experience.
• Familiarity with ERP, accounting, or tax software.
• Interest in pursuing a CPA or other accounting-related professional certification.
