Optiver is seeking an experienced and energetic tax professional with a passion for the financial markets to join its APAC Tax compliance team based in Sydney. The successful candidate will apply their strong technical skills in a dynamic and fast moving organisation to advise and enable the business to navigate through the complex APAC tax environment.
WHAT YOU’LL DO: 

  • Managing direct and indirect tax compliance and reporting obligations for Australian legal entities, including income tax, withholding tax and fringe benefits tax.
  • Preparation and review of annual corporate income tax return for the Australian tax consolidated group, including calculations and disclosures for subsidiaries, permanent establishment and selected entities across the APAC region.
  • Reviewing monthly tax provisions and annual tax note disclosures included in the financial statements.
  • Managing indirect tax compliance for entities within Australia including review and lodgement of business activity statements.
  • Driving process improvements including identifying and implementing automation and AI solutions for compliance obligations.
  • Managing key stakeholders within the business and externally such as tax advisors and auditors and prepare responses to queries from tax authorities.
  • Keeping up to date with changes in local legislation and other developments such as the OECD etc.
  • Sharing knowledge, present training, and provide guidance to build awareness of tax requirements.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

Optiver needs our next Tax Compliance Manager to be ambitious, eager to learn about Optiver’s business and develop their technical capabilities:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in tax (consulting or corporate).
  • Relevant professional qualifications (CA/CPA/Master of Tax) preferred.
  • Experience with direct and indirect taxes in our APAC jurisdictions will be beneficial.
  • Financial services experience and an interest in trading and global markets will be beneficial.
  • Strong ability to conduct independent research.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong growth mindset and desire to develop your career.
  • Proactive and ability to take ownership of deliverables.
