Development work usually makes people feel better without making them better. This role exists to ask, “What can our best people do now that they couldn't six months ago?” You'll be accountable to that question and expected to show your work.
This is a senior IC role, with company-wide ownership, reporting to the Head of People Partners.
Responsibilities:
- Get new hires to meaningful impact faster. Own and expand our onboarding programs.
- Diagnose and close skill gaps. Look at a person or a team, identify what's missing, and orchestrate the right fix.
- Own the development experience end to end. Design, run, and iterate on our learning programs.
- Build AI into how we develop people. Personalize learning, automate program operations, and raise the bar.
- Learn the business deeply. Build fluency in our products, people, and systems so every learning solution is grounded in how AngelList actually works.
You may be a good fit if you:
- 5+ years of owning outcomes for other people’s performance — as a business partner, head of people at a small company, chief of staff, enablement lead, management consultant, founder, or a long run in L&D
- can tell the difference between a workshop that people enjoyed and one that changed how they work
- are commercially minded, working backwards from the business problem instead of taking asks at face value
- made a strong performer dramatically better, and can name them
- taught yourself something hard, that nobody asked for, and shipped it with AI
- have strong opinions about em dashes

Working Here
This is a hybrid role in either New York City or San Francisco. Employees work in office at least 2 days a week. Many people come in more often.
Compensation:
The compensation for this role consists of a competitive base salary, benefits, and equity package. The base salary for this role starts at $160K+ annually but actual will vary based on a number of factors including a candidate’s professional background, experience, and location. Skills Required
- 8+ years owning outcomes for other people's performance (business partner, head of people, chief of staff, enablement lead, consultant, founder, or L&D)
- Experience owning and expanding onboarding programs to speed new hires to impact
- Ability to diagnose skill gaps and design/orchestrate learning interventions
- Experience designing, running, and iterating end-to-end learning and development programs
- Experience building or applying AI to personalize learning and automate program operations
- Commercial mindset; works backwards from business problems rather than taking training requests at face value
- Proven track record of making a strong performer dramatically better (able to name an example)
- Self-taught learning in the last year, ideally shipped something with AI
- Strong written communication and editorial preferences (playful mention of 'strong opinions about em dashes')
