T-89 (FLSD) SIGN-ON & RETENTION INCENTIVE
Homes for the Homeless (HFH) is excited to offer a unique opportunity for both new and current employees to grow within our Safety Department through our T-89 (Fire Life Safety Director) Sign-On and Retention Incentive Program. This initiative is designed to attract T-89 professionals, support staff in obtaining their T-89 certification for HFH and strengthen safety operations at our Families with Children facility in the Hell's Kitchen area of Manhattan, NY.

Homes for the Homeless operates shelters for families experiencing homelessness in NYC. Our family residences are more than just a place to sleep. Families can make the most of their stay through accessing an array of onsite programs. Many of these programs are also available to people living in the local community. Our goal is to have a positive impact so families can thrive long after they leave our shelters.
NOW HIRING:
We are currently seeking candidates for the following roles at Clinton Family Residence:
- Safety Aide– Maintains a safe and secure environment by monitoring building activity, enforcing rules, and responding to incidents and emergencies. Requires a valid NYS Security Guard License and the ability to obtain an F-02& F-80certification within60 daysof hire.The annualsalary is$38,511.
- Director of Security– Oversees all facility safety operations, including supervising safety staff, ensuring compliance with FDNY/DHS regulations, managing emergency response procedures, andmaintainingoverall site security. Requires a valid NYS Security License, F-02, F-80, and T-89 certifications, plus a minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience. The annual salary is$70,000.
PROGRAM INCENTIVES:
HFH offers financial incentives and career growth opportunities based on your certification status:
1. New Hires with Valid T-89
- $500 sign-on bonus
- $500 retention bonus upon updating certification with HFH
2. Current Employees with T-89 (not yet affiliated with HFH)
- $500 incentive upon updating certification with HFH
3. Current Employees without T-89
- $1,000 incentive upon successful certification
- Full support through training, testing, and certification process
- Potential promotional opportunities based on operational needs and approval
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- Interest in security and emergency preparedness
- Ability to complete FDNY FLSD (T-89) certification process (with HFH support)
- For current HFH employees without T-89:
- Minimum18 months of employment at your current location
- Experience serving as a fire brigade member
- Participation in fire brigade activities, safety plans, and emergency drills

On any given day, 720 families with 780 children reside in our six family residences in the Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island.
