Job Summary
Kairos Power is seeking a Systems Integration, Project Engineer with a strong technical background who can support integration of equipment skids for Kairos Power Fluoride Salt-Cooled High Temperature Reactor technology. You will work in a small, highly empowered team where every team member is directly responsible for the success of the program, by ensuring collaboration and coordination occurs in the design, manufacturing, and operations of equipment and systems.
Responsibilities
- This role will be dynamic and will require you to coordinate work and lean into developing solutions across various stakeholders (other engineers, designers, and technicians) for complex issues impacting project objectives/milestones
- Eliminate roadblocks across teams within Kairos Power by increasing transparency of engineering information by being able to quickly learn technical information and independent quick decision making to rapidly implement practical solutions
- Support efforts to close design and operational tradeoffs and coordinate project reviews (as appropriate)
- Maintain excellent communication with teams and project lead(s) of status and issues
- Interact with internal/external parties on equipment designs or fabrication of components
- Support the development of systems engineering design best practices, processes, and continuous improvement initiatives such as system requirements and plans for verification
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters in Mechanical, Nuclear, Chemical, or other related engineering discipline
- 7+ year of engineering integration experience with a mixed in hardware operations, engineering design, engineering testing, systems integration, process design, etc.
- Demonstrated ability of applying engineering knowledge to deliver results while being able to thrive in an environment with evolving requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills and able to be independent, resourceful, and proactive in the face of the lack of information or unknowns
- Desire and ability to function in a fast-paced small company environment while wearing multiple hats
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team on problems as well as lead/coordinate the timely resolution of issues of cross functional teams
- Experience in personally working through aspects of detailed design, procurement activities, testing/operations, and manufacturing/construction
- Experience with working with design and delivery of complex and multi-disciplinary system assemblies
- Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of Process Design, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), and multisystem power or industrial plant operations is desired
- Ability to work with highly collaborative team
- Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently
- Prioritizes and ensures safety of one self and others
- Ability to proactively collect, manage and transfer knowledge
- Ability to seek different and novel ways to create efficiencies when working on problems, challenges and issues

Travel
- Some travel may be required (up to 20%) to other Kairos Power offices and external suppliers

- Requires occasional non-standard work-week hours
- Requires occasional extended hours to support and critical project timelines
The salary range for this position is $116,400-$137,000 for employees working onsite at our Alameda, CA headquarters. The range provided in this job posting represents the typical range or starting rate of candidates hired in California. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, the market data for your work location, and a comparison to other employees already in the role.
