Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build, configure, and administer Linux servers and user workstations for secure, high-performance lab environments.
- Design and implement scalable workgroup networks supporting cross-platform collaboration (Windows/Linux).
- Manage centralized authentication services using LDAP and Active Directory for mixed client environments.
- Engineer and maintain reliable systems administration solutions to support mission and project operations.
- Proactively monitor, log, and analyze system performance—resolving exceptions before they impact operations.
- Deploy software patches, hot fixes, and updates across servers, workstations, and network hardware.
- Create and modify automation scripts (Shell, Perl, PowerCLI, or PowerShell) to optimize administrative tasks.
- Support continuous improvement efforts focused on system stability, scalability, and security.
- Collaborate across technical teams to streamline processes and automate deployments.
- Partner with cybersecurity teams to harden systems to ICD-503 standards and implement DoD security controls.
Required Skills:
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration
- multiple specialties such as operating systems, storage technologies and peripherals, including working knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating systems administration (5 years)
- Scripting proficiency in Shell, Perl, PowerCLI, or PowerShell
- Familiarity with DNS, LDAP, and cross-platform authentication systems
- Experience managing system updates via YUM/DNF and Red Hat Satellite
- Background working with Ansible modules and Trellix Anti-Virus
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity tools like Trellix, HBSS, and Carbon Black
- Familiarity with VMWare and virtualization concepts
- Experience or familiarity with AWS (EC2, S3, EFS), Git, and DevSecOps principles a plus
Desired Skills:
- Experience with Git configuration management
- Exposure to Amazon Web Services (AWS) including EC2, S3, and EFS
- Understanding of DevSecOps methodologies and automation pipelines
Experience & Education Requirements:
- 3–5 years of professional systems administration experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field required
- Security+ Certification (or ability to obtain within 3 months)
Clearance Requirements:
- Active DoD TS/SCI (ability to obtain CI poly)
