The Systems Engineer is responsible for system engineering on a per project or technical area basis, focusing on the support of our pre-clinical scale products. You will work with Product Management, Quality Assurance, Operations and Service to improve the quality of released products by investigating and resolving any product quality related issues. You will also work with the production team to continually enhance production line activities and related production text fixtures & jigs and act as the technical interface with our suppliers for the support of existing components as well as the implementation of new and/or revised components.
 

This position reports to the Sr Manager, Sustaining Engineering and is part of the Engineering R&D team located in Vancouver, BC with periodic visits to our other site location in Burnaby, and will be an on-site role.

What you will do:

• Design and Documentation: Improve the performance and quality of electro-mechanical components and PCBA's in our lineup of microfluidic instruments.  Develop and execute engineering best practices – FMEAs, PFMEA’s to document updated designs, develop work instructions, and transfer proposed design changes into production.
• Quality Improvement: Investigate and resolve any product quality-related issues.  Drive root cause investigations and develop, test and implement subsequent design changes for internal and service field-related instrument issues.
• Production Support: Investigate and resolve production line issues and support service team with any field escalations.
• Supply Chain: Source and validate alternative sources for production parts to improve sourcing base, helping to ensure continuity of supply.
• Regulatory Compliance: Support 3rd party regulatory testing required to maintain or improve product compliance, performance and reliability.

Who You Are:

• Engineering degree, preferably in Systems Engineering, Engineering Physics, or Mechatronics
• 5+ years experience in product development
• Excellent overall knowledge of mechanical, electrical and software design
• Fluent in English verbal and written technical communication.

It would be a plus if you also possess pervious experience in:

• Experience in a manufacturing and/or biotechnology environment is an asset

The annual salary range for this role is $85,000 - $100,000 CAD.  This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
