Job Description Qualifications:
Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS), Space, Intelligence, and Weapon Systems division, seeks a Systems Engineer to support the team in El Segundo, CA; Huntington Beach, CA; or Seal Beach CA. We work with both commercial and proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space. Our team focuses on rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers. Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.
As a member of our team, you will work on proprietary programs being performed for U.S. government customers who handle advanced technology national security. We define, design, build, deploy operate and maintain a wide variety of mission critical platforms and systems. We perform vital systems development, integration, and test activities to establish product readiness.
Position Responsibilities:
- Participate in plan, design, develop, and verify systems development and system solutions.
- Evaluate customer and operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters, and assure compatibility of all physical, functional, and program interfaces.
- Perform various analyses to optimize total system of systems or system architecture. Perform analyses for affordability, safety, reliability (FMEA), maintainability, availability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance, system safety, and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.
- Develop, maintain, and identify improvements the planning, organization, implementation, and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management, and technology readiness assessment processes.
- Support use case, architecture, and requirements development utilizing MBSE.
- Implement verification and validation of system requirements with proper flow down and traceability for system, hardware, and software components to include verification, validation, and test plans and schedules, procedures and documentation, execution, and requirements closeout.
- Support interface development, documentation, and compliance and system integration across hardware and software domains to ensure system success with ground segment.
- Provide operations support with logistics, supportability, and sustainment or maintenance, including operator training and transition procedures, plans, and documentation.
- Support multiple Agile Teams.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines in an integrated team environment to develop System and SW build content release.
- Utilize JIRA and Confluence to assist with stakeholder needs analysis, technical measure definition, requirements analysis and allocation, definition for subcontractors.
To meet security standards and protocols, all work is performed onsite in one of the listed locations.
Travel may be required up to 10% of the time; domestically depending on business needs.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. TS/SCI Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
- Experience in systems engineering to include system architecture, requirements, interface development, allocation, verification and validation (V&V), risk management, integration, and test.
- 1+ years of experience in systems engineering performing system architecture development, systems integration, or hardware design and software design and analysis.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- 5 years or more experience in technical systems engineering.
- Experience in software coding and troubleshooting.
- Experience with Cost Account Management (Earned Value Management, EVMS).
- Experience supporting proposal activity for new and follow-on business including proposal writing.
- Experience interfacing with senior leadership and customer.
- Experience in development of command and control, mission management, and mission processing software systems for ground systems.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and external customers.
- Experience in ground and space systems.
- Experience with Agile.
- Experience with JIRA and Confluence.
- Experience working systems engineering across multiple phases of the product life cycle.
- Experience with Model-Based Engineering (MBE) and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
Typical Education & Experience:
Associate (Level 2): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Experienced (Level 3): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Lead (Level 4): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay ranges:
Associate (Level 2) $87,550- $118,450
Experienced (Level 3): $104,550 – $141,450
Lead (Level 4) $128,350- $173,650
