Systems Engineer (Aerospace)

 

Whippany Actuation Systems, a fast-paced and innovative aerospace manufacturer specializing in electromechanical actuators for both commercial and military applications, is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical professional to join our team as our newest Systems Engineer. In this role, you will establish the proper architecture for Military and Aerospace electromechanical systems, determining both electrical and mechanical component features through system modeling/simulation methods.

 

In this role, you would typically:

  • Lead system architecture design decisions in areas of control system approaches considering aircraft performance requirements allocation to system components, system performance prediction, and requirements tracking.
  • Lead internal system design decisions based on customer requirements and coordinate electrical system designs for new production as well as retrofit applications, including evaluation of capability, analog circuit analysis, failure modes analysis, prototype hardware build and support for qualification testing.
  • Write technical documentation and proposals in response to customer inquiries.
  • Participate in a cross-functional team in support of electrical engineering designs for manufacturability, functionality, reliability, requirement compliance, ease-of-assembly, and cost reduction targets.
  • Perform MatLab simulation modeling.
  • Travel occasionally, domestic or international, for customer visits and industry meetings.

 

We require:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 3 years’ engineering experience working in aerospace, defense or an equivalent high technology manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to travel, domestically and internationally, up to 10%.
  • Authorization to work in the US.

 

Eligibility Requirements:

This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. Whippany Actuation Systems will require proof of status before employment.

 

We would really like to see:

  • Masters’ degree in electrical, control, or systems engineering
  • Experience with aerospace grade electronic circuit card design, and designing and troubleshooting electro-mechanical assemblies and components.
  • Knowledge of military and aerospace specifications and regulations.
  • Familiarity with DOORS requirement management software, 270 VDC power systems, MatLab/Simulink.

 

Compensation and Benefits:

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $110,000 to $160,000 per year. Final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities. If hired, the employee will be in an “at-will position.”
