Torch is seeking a high-performing Systems Engineer to join a team leading the Missile Defense Agency’s (MDA’s) digital transformation initiative to deliver capabilities for the Missile Defense System at the speed and scale necessary to support our National Defense Strategy. As a member of the transformation team, you will contribute to the modernization of Systems Engineering processes, tools, and products across the Agency, with a focus on Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), requirements engineering, and the development and advancement of the MDA Enterprise Government Reference Architecture (GRA). The mission includes replacing outdated, document-heavy workflows with a dynamic digital engineering ecosystem with automated, traceable, and dynamic digital solutions to promote real-time collaboration, automated documentation, and enhanced agility across the Agency.
As a Systems Engineer, your duties will include the following, but are not limited to:
- Support engineering analyses, requirements, and trade studies.
- Support systems engineering modernization efforts.
- Assist with building and updating system models in Cameo for a Government Reference Architecture (GRA).
- Support requirements development and traceability using MBSE tools.
- Participate in technical reviews and working sessions.
- Participate in meetings and working sessions with other organizations within the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
- Assist with configuration management of the GRA as updates are incorporated and models are added.
- Support technical briefings and documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering teams, stakeholders, and senior leaders.
Required Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Ability to obtain and maintain a secret level clearance.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant technical, engineering, STEM, or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Experience or demonstrated academic/project experience in Systems Engineering, requirements engineering, MBSE, or a related technical discipline
- Familiarity with systems thinking and the ability to perform detailed analysis and organize complex information
- Experience gathering, analyzing, and translating stakeholder needs into structured, actionable requirements or solutions
- Familiarity with MBSE concepts and tools such as Cameo/MagicDraw
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
- Proven ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders while also being able to self-start and work independently
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in missile defense, preferably with the Missile Defense System or other large scale DoW Systems-of-Systems (SoS)
- A degree, certificate, or coursework in Systems Engineering from an accredited university or institution
- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Cameo/MagicDraw, requirements modeling, and requirements traceability
- Knowledge of digital engineering transformation tools, methodologies, and implementation strategies
- Formal training and/or experience with Systems Engineering standards and practices such as the INCOSE Systems Engineering Handbook, the Systems Engineering Body of Knowledge, and ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288
- Experience with technical tools, programming, data organization, or other disciplines that support digital engineering
- Comprehensive knowledge of requirements engineering, traceability frameworks, and full system life cycle engineering methodologies
