Systems Engineer SME
As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen AND an active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.
We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer SME to support a mission-critical government program. This role is ideal for experienced engineers with deep technical expertise in systems administration, cloud computing, infrastructure automation, and secure application deployment. Candidates must be adept at supporting complex environments and mentoring junior team members.
Compensation & Benefits:
Estimated Starting Salary Range for Systems Engineer SME: $185,000 to $202,000
Pay commensurate with experience.

Systems Engineer SME Responsibilities Include:
- Manage and maintain application servers, networks, and development/test environments.
- Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot application hosting services.
- Monitor system performance and conduct audits to ensure data integrity and protection.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and implement effective solutions.
- Provide expert-level technical support and guidance to end-users.
- Develop and enforce best practices for system backups, disaster recovery, and redundancy.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in IT systems, especially cloud and automation technologies.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Systems Engineer SME Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
- Active TS/SCI with polygraph
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
- 16+ years of relevant experience.
- Ability to install and configure vCenter server
- Experience with ESXi cluster servers
- Strong technical knowledge of VMWare products: vSphere, vCenter, &/or Aria Suite
- Experience implementing NSX, SRM &/or vSAN in DR or failover operational environments
- 3+ years experience in infrastructure architecture and design complex distributed systems environments, including failover techniques, recovery/rollback, and application partitioning.
- Experience monitoring the health of VMs operating in various data centers
- Understanding of network & storage architectures, including peripheral interfaces (SCSI, RAID, Ethernet) and multi-processor designs (SMP)
- Experience virtualizing enterprise applications
- Experience with AWS
- Experience with VMWare 7
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
- Strong background in Linux System Administration and containerization (e.g., Docker)..
- Ability to analyze and resolve networking issues.
- Effective in team environments and capable of mentoring others.
