At GCI, we solve the hard problems. As a Systems Engineer, a typical day will include the following duties:

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Experience in program management and system integration for complex IT programs

  • Ability to facilitate meetings, lead information sessions, coordinate schedules, and track action items

  • Experience preparing program plans and reports, including budget spend plans

  • Ability to analyze functional business applications and design specifications, translating them into IT requirements

  • Experience preparing technical proposals for engineering review boards

  • Experience evaluating cloud strategies and selecting appropriate cloud services based on requirements

  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining network environments, including modern cloud environments

  • Experience building and configuring servers and workstations, including installation, setup, hardware coordination, and maintaining OS/software updates

  • Experience providing cyber defense capabilities to protect IT assets from threats and exploitation

  • Experience planning, designing, testing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining security architecture, infrastructure, policies, and procedures

  • Experience designing, implementing, and achieving approval to operate (ATO) for IT systems

  • Experience leading Scrum teams using Agile methodologies and Scrum practices

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including editing for varied audiences and senior executives

  • Experience composing technical documents such as user manuals, training materials, installation guides, troubleshooting guides, and reports

Desired Skills

  • Experience reviewing network requirements to assess alternatives, performance impact, and cost‑beneficial approaches
  • Experience coordinating and integrating deliverables, information, and technology architectures into cohesive solutions and roadmaps
  • Experience organizing and structuring solutions for complex client areas, including project planning, risk assessment, mitigation strategies, scheduling, and contingency planning
  • Experience briefing customers, stakeholders, and management at various levels on enterprise program capabilities and statuses
  • Experience with cloud services and infrastructure
