Systems Engineer L4

Jovian Concepts, LLC is seeking a System Engineer Level 4 for an exciting opportunity in the Annapolis Junction , MD area. At Jovian Concepts, our people drive our success. The Systems Engineer will work as part of a large mixed team supporting DevOps and live operational systems. The environment consists of Linux-based physical hardware and virtual machines (VMs). Responsibilities will include Linux system administration and general systems engineering support. The engineer will monitor email and chat communications for mission-critical updates, issues, and support requests, then use JIRA to track and resolve tickets. The team supports a backend environment with mission and operations users and their desktop environments. Responsibilities will include supporting authentication, Domain Name System (DNS), shared drives, and home directories to help maintain connectivity and access across the environment.

• Solid Experience with STE/STN, DISA STIG compliance work on Linux Systems
  
• Experience with LINUX Administration (SA1/2 level)
  
• Experience with Kubernetes
  
• Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Salt...)
  
• Scripting (Bash, Python, Perl...)
  
• Virtualization (VMWare, RH KVM, Proxmox...)
  
• IP networking and Firewall experience.
  
• Some Experience with Containers/Cloud environments
  

• Have a solid understanding of PKI/TLS/crypto including crypto policies.
  
• Storage Management (Isilon, NetApp...)
  
• Application support and general troubleshooting.
  
• Hyper Converged Infrastructure exp (Harvester, Nutanix, Cisco Hyperflex...)
  

• A Bachelor’s degree in a Qualified Engineering Field (See Note 1) or a related discipline (See Note 2) from an accredited college or university plus ten (10) years of systems engineering experience
  

OR

• A High School Diploma or GED plus fourteen (14) years of general system engineering experience (any Process Area).
  

OR

• A Master’s degree in a Qualified Engineering Field (See Note 1) or a related discipline (See Note 2) from an accredited college or university plus eight (8) years of systems engineering experience
  

OR

• A PhD in a Qualified Engineering Field (See Note 1) or a related discipline (See Note 2) from an accredited college or university plus six (6) years of systems engineering experience.
  

Note 1 – Examples of qualified engineering fields include: Aeronautics, Biomedical, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Environmental, Mechanical, Nuclear, Software, Systems, and Engineering Management. Similar or comparable degrees will be acceptable.
