Job Description
BAE Systems Intelligence & Security designs and delivers advanced defense, intelligence, and security solutions that support the important missions of our customers. BAE Systems provides analysis-based systems engineering support to the U.S Navy's Strategic Systems Program (SSP) Office. The Navy is developing an updated version of the Trident missile to support the Columbia submarine deployment. BAE Systems has an immediate need for a System Integration Engineer to support U.S Navy's Strategic Systems Program (SSP) Office and the Trident II D5 Strategic Weapon System (SWS) program.
The SSP program is led from the Navy Yard in Washington D.C. This position will be performed from the BAE Systems offices in Rockville, MD.
Key roles and technical responsibilities include assisting the team lead in executing the following tasks:

  1. Plan and lead System Integration activities across the engineering lifecycle, for a complex systems-of-systems, including the mapping of requirements to system attributes and interfaces.
  2. Identify digital tools and data sets required to assess the system interface maturity as the design develops.
  3. Identify critical technology elements and maturation events to assess maturity through the design lifecycle.
  4. Identify integration assessment characteristics that can be gathered from component level development testing activities for use in system level integration assessments.
  5. Plan and lead compatibility and interoperability assessments to ensure the entire system will have the form, fit, and function to execute the intended mission(s).
  6. Collaborate directly with government customers, University Affiliated Research Centers (UARC), and Industry to create policy, process, and implement appropriate tools to plan and measure design maturity, identify risks, issues, and opportunities, and provide detailed action plans.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Education and years of related/relevant work experience required: Bachelor of Science degree in engineering/technical discipline, preferred and 4+ year(s) related/relevant work experience or equivalent education, relevant/related work experience, training and/or certifications.
Additional skills/experience required:

  • 2 years' experience supporting systems engineering efforts
  • Experience with integration of models, software, and / or hardware
  • Experience in conducting assessments and providing briefing and / or reports to leadership highlighting the results and recommended actions
  • Experience applying Modeling-based Systems Engineering tools to develop digital engineering products
  • Must possess strong organizational, time management, and project management skills


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Master's degree in engineering or other technical discipline
  • Experience with large, complex, system design and develop programs
  • Experience implementing Readiness Levels (i.e. TRL, MRL, IRL, and / or SRL) and conducting assessments
  • Proficient with SysML and DOORS tools
  • Modeling credentials and/or certifications
  • Experience with designing, modeling, and building resilient systems
  • Experience with major weapon system development product lifecycle and technologies
  • Experience with the Navy SSP or Trident programs


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $92290 - $156860
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
