The group's main business is the implementation of mission critical digital mobile communication systems for Government & Public Safety Communications customers.
Job Description

The Motorola Solutions team comprises Sales, Project Management, Systems Engineering and System Technologist personnel working together in a high performance culture, often with demanding cycle times and high customer expectations as we work to deploy mission critical communication systems. 

Many of these systems are designed around the APCO Project 25 communications standard, often with interfaces to other critical customers' sub-systems. With the growth of data services some of our customer’s mobile wireless networks are being enhanced with connectivity to LTE infrastructure leveraging compelling applications and live mobile video, supplementing our traditional core voice and narrow-band data networks. 

The Systems Engineer will take responsibility for and oversee all technical aspects of an assigned project from award until system acceptance.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Final Design and implementation of the radio network including infrastructure, subscribers and mobile backhaul

  • Lead customer presentations

  • System staging

  • Preparation of system fleet-map, encryption and radio programming templates

  • Complete system documentation

  • Live system upgrades

  • Ensuring the integrity of the architecture/design

Specific Knowledge/Skills:

  • Experience/knowledge in radio communication systems, radio propagation, RF, wireless or broadband/LTE highly desirable

  • Experience, good understanding, and working knowledge of IP networking, network design methodologies & troubleshooting (Ethernet, TCP/IP, L2/L3, MPLS) highly desirable

  • Certifications through CompTIA Network+, Juniper JNCIA-Junos, Nokia NRS1, CCNA or similar, highly desirable

  • Previous knowledge and experience working with some or all of Juniper, Aviat, Cisco, Nokia/Alcatel, Xtreme, Ceragon, highly desirable

  • Experience directly working with end-user customers is essential

  • Excellent communications skills and the ability to present complex topics to nontechnical audiences is essential

Up to 50% travel is required for upgrade projects.


Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, IT or Networking and 3+ years of Engineering or Wireless Communications experience

  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain background clearance as required by government customer
