We are seeking a Systems Engineer I to analyze functional business requirements, design specifications, and system architectures to support DoD operations and IT modernization. This role involves assessing existing systems, implementing new solutions, and collaborating with engineering teams to develop next-generation IT systems for military applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze functional business requirements and design specifications for DoD IT and engineering systems.
- Identify and resolve problems in existing system designs while leading new system implementations.
- Enhance existing IT systems and participate in the analysis, design, and deployment of next-generation IT solutions.
- Evaluate commercially available IT products (COTS) and integrate them into mission-critical applications.
- Develop system requirements to ensure proper implementation by architecture and engineering teams.
- Collaborate closely with programmers, system administrators, and cybersecurity experts.
- Maintain expertise in telecommunications concepts, computer languages, operating systems, databases/DBMS, and middleware.
- Support system integration, software testing, and security evaluations to meet DoD compliance standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Active Secret Clearance: TS preferred
- Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher OR
- High School Diploma or GED Certificate with 1 year of relevant experience.
- Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher OR
- 1 year of relevant experience with a High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
- Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, IT architecture, and defense system integration.
- Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity policies, risk management frameworks (RMF), and IT governance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with classified military systems and secure networks.
- Knowledge of cloud computing technologies (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government).
- Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and CI/CD security integration.
- Certifications such as Security+, CISSP, or DoD-approved systems engineering credentials.
