Systems Engineer - Expert
This position requires an active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance to be considered.
Cherokee Preting is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer - Expert will integrate, secure, monitor, and troubleshoot enterprise data, network, and cloud environments. This role requires strong experience with data pipelines, Splunk, network and log analysis, automation, cybersecurity controls, and complex multi-enclave systems.
Compensation & Benefits:
Estimated Starting Salary Range for Systems Engineer - Expert: $230,000.00 - $240,000.00
Pay commensurate with experience.

Systems Engineer - Expert Responsibilities Include:
- Integrate and manage diverse data streams across enterprise networks and systems.
- Configure, operate, and troubleshoot data transfer tools such as NiFi and Cribl.
- Establish and maintain data standards for IT and service delivery data sets, streams, and feeds.
- Analyze complex networks, systems, and log data from network components and operating systems.
- Monitor, manage, and resolve issues affecting data feeds, network visibility, and system performance.
- Support environments with shared networks, multiple security enclaves, and complex access requirements.
- Use Splunk to collect, analyze, correlate, and investigate operational and security data.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python, ShellScript, Ansible, or similar tools.
- Implement SecDevOps practices and cloud security controls across AWS, Azure, private cloud, and hybrid-cloud environments.
- Support PKI implementation, STIG compliance, vulnerability management, and security hardening efforts.
- Engineer and support virtualized environments, including VDI and VMware platforms.
- Provide systems engineering and network analysis expertise to improve reliability, security, and operational performance.
Systems Engineer - Expert Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
- Active TS/SCI with Full Polygraph
- A minimum of eleven (11) years of relevant experience
- Must have a Bachelors' Degree in a related field of study, Masters Degree is preferred.
- Must be a AWS Certified Security Specialty
- Experience integrating diverse data streams and data transfer tools (Ex: NiFi, Cribl, etc)
- Experience in analyzing complex networks and systems, and log data from various network components and operating systems
- Knowledge of the complex environment involving shared networks and multiple security enclaves
- Systems Engineering with network analyst\engineering background
- Ability to manage and troubleshoot data feeds, Splunk familiarization, Python
- Security Development and Operations (SecDevOps)
- Expertise with the following:
- Splunk
- Scripting tools to include Python, ShellScript, or Ansible
- Cloud security controls and implementation
- PKI implementation
- STIG compliance and vulnerability management
- Virtualization experience (VDI & VMWare)
- Public, private and hybrid Cloud experience (AWS, Microsoft Azure, etc.)
- Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
