Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity and immediate need on the E-7A Program for a Senior Communications & Networks Systems Engineer to join our E-7A Systems Engineering team. Due to expanding business, we are looking for Engineers with a multi discipline skill set who can solve problems and lead solutions across multiple Engineering disciplines. This position will be 100% onsite in Tukwila, WA.
The E-7 is the world's most advanced, capable and reliable Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) platform, having proven itself in operations around the world. The aircraft is designed to track multiple airborne and maritime targets simultaneously. It can provide situational awareness and direct other assets such as fighter jets and warships. This position will work across multiple E-7A programs supporting development of new capabilities for the E-7A program.
As a Senior Communications and Networks Systems Engineer, the successful candidate will play a critical role in evaluating different communication subsystems, analyzing performance from end-to-end across all aspects of the communication path, work with multi-discipline design engineers, and evaluating technical maturity, risks and issues. This engineer will need to take design concepts through a rigorous systems engineering evaluation to down-select final design solutions.
Position Responsibilities:
- Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced communications subsystems integrated with the E-7A system.
- Evaluates customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.
- Performs performance analyses to optimize system architecture and provide recommendations for configuration options and integration plans
- Utilizes understanding of hardware, software, transportation layer and network layer to provide a complete end-to-end system.
- Oversees analyses from multiple functions that could include affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.
- Develops, maintains and identifies improvements for the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.
- Resolves cross-functional technical issues, including between difference communication sub-systems, sensors and supporting size, weight and power constraints.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Must hold an Active U.S Secret Clearance.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry
- Level 4: 9 or more years of related work experience
- 3+ years working with different aspects of communications systems
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Level 5: 14 or more years of related work experience.
- Bachelor, Master or Doctor of Science degrees in technical areas relevant to communications systems
- Clear and confident communicator to technical and non-technical audiences at all levels of the organization
- 10+ years of experience in system design, functional decomposition, requirements development, analysis, verification and validation
- Experience as a Lead Engineer responsible for ensuring subsystem and product integration across multiple disciplines
- Experience with Model Based Engineering tools and languages such as Enterprise Architecture, Cameo/MSOSA, UML/SysML, 3DX, CATIA
- Experience with mentoring, coaching, guiding, and leading teams of junior and peer engineers
