Muvr builds the platform that powers mobility networks, connecting carriers, fleet partners, and enterprise customers. We deliver resilient, secure, and scalable services that power mission-critical logistics and transportation workflows. Our Systems team keeps Muvr’s production systems healthy, secure, and performant — and helps the rest of the company move quickly and safely.
Role overviewThe Systems Administrator at Muvr is responsible for the reliable operation, monitoring, and ongoing improvement of our infrastructure and core platform services. You’ll own day-to-day systems operations, incident response, capacity planning, patching, backup/recovery, and the tooling that enables safe, repeatable infrastructure work. This role partners closely with Engineering, Security, DevOps, and Product to ensure our environments (cloud, on-prem where relevant, and hybrid services) meet availability, performance, and compliance targets.
This role is hands-on and operationally focused — ideal for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, automation, documentation, and making infrastructure predictable at scale.
Key Responsibilities- Operate, monitor, and maintain cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure) and supporting services (compute, networking, storage, IAM).
- Maintain system availability, perform incident response and on-call rotations, and participate in post-mortems with actionable remediation.
- Build, maintain, and run automation for provisioning, configuration management, patching, and repetitive operational tasks (IaC, scripts, configuration management).
- Manage and tune CI/CD pipelines and deployment tooling in coordination with engineering teams.
- Administer core services: DNS, load balancers, VPN, firewalls, identity providers (SSO/Okta), email systems, and backup solutions.
- Implement and operate monitoring, alerting, and logging (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/Opensearch, Datadog, or similar).
- Perform capacity planning, resource optimization, and cost management for cloud resources.
- Maintain system hardening, security patches, and compliance controls in collaboration with Security.
- Perform backups, disaster recovery planning, and periodic recovery tests.
- Create and maintain runbooks, runplaybooks, runbooks for on-call, operational runbooks, and system documentation.
- Support onboarding for new services and internal tooling, and provide technical support for internal teams.
- Drive continuous improvement: reduce toil through automation, reliability engineering, and operational excellence.
Required
- 3+ years experience in systems administration, infrastructure operations, or similar role supporting cloud-native production services.
- Hands-on experience with a major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure) — provisioning, networking, IAM, and cost/usage fundamentals.
- Strong Linux system administration skills (package management, networking, services, performance tuning).
- Experience with automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or similar).
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and deployment automation (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CircleCI, GitLab CI, etc.).
- Experience with monitoring/alerting/logging stacks (Prometheus/Grafana, Datadog, ELK/Opensearch, or similar).
- Solid troubleshooting skills and experience in incident response and on-call rotation.
- Good scripting skills (Bash, Python, or similar) to automate operational tasks.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience with container platforms and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS/GKE/AKS).
- Exposure to security best practices (system hardening, vulnerability management, IAM least privilege).
- Experience with database operations and tuning (Postgres, MySQL, or managed DB services).
- Familiarity with networking concepts (VPCs, subnets, routing, VPNs, load balancing).
- Experience with cost optimization in cloud environments.
- Certifications (AWS Certified SysOps/Associate, Google Professional Cloud DevOps, RHCE) are a plus.
- Operational excellence and attention to detail — runbooks, checklists, and repeatable processes.
- Strong problem solving and prioritization under pressure (incidents, competing requests).
- Automation-first mindset — reduce manual work and enable safe self-service.
- Effective communicator — explain technical issues to engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
- Security-minded — build systems with compliance and least privilege in mind.
- Collaborative — work across Engineering, Product, Security, and Partnerships.
AWS/GCP/Azure, Linux, Terraform/CloudFormation, Ansible/Chef, Kubernetes/Docker, Git, CI/CD (GitHub Actions/Jenkins), Prometheus/Grafana/Datadog, ELK/Opensearch, Postgres/MySQL, Okta or SSO providers, VPN/firewalls, and scripting languages (Python/Bash). Tools may vary by team and evolve.
Why you’ll love working here- High-impact role: your work directly improves uptime, security, and developer productivity.
- Cross-functional exposure across Product, Engineering, Security, and Operations.
- Opportunity to design and automate infrastructure at scale for a fast-growing mobility platform.
- Collaborative, learning-oriented culture with room to improve systems and processes.
