HEAnet – Project Accountant - 6mth ftc
HEAnet is Ireland’s National Research and Education Network, providing internet connectivity and ICT shared services across all levels of the Irish education system, reaching in excess of 1,000,000 end users. We connect learners and researchers across all of Ireland to education resources and to fellow national educational and research networks in Europe, and the rest of the world.
We are seeking an experienced Project Accountant to join our team on a six (6) month fixed term contract basis to lead the ERP component of the Finance workstream in a company-wide project to merge a subsidiary company into the parent’s operations.
This role will cover all aspects of the ERP integration project before and post-merger. You will play a key role in the work to integrate the subsidiary’s instance of Microsoft Business Central into the parent company’s, including data cleansing in advance, creating the new chart of accounts strings, setting up new vendors & customers while ensuring best-practice data management and compliance.
This role is primarily based at our Dublin 1 offices, but we are pleased to offer a flexible remote working arrangement. This allows you to work from home up to three (3) days a week. You will be expected to work at least two (2) days a week in the office, giving you the opportunity to enjoy a balanced and dynamic work environment.
What the Project Accountant does
- Support the finance team in a project to integrate a subsidiary into the parent company’s instance of Microsoft Business Central
- Preparation of data from subsidiary company’s finance system for integration into parent’s system (eg. PO’s, sales orders, chart of accounts etc)
- Provide support to non-finance users, and ensure sufficient supporting documentation is created to support ongoing financial operations for the finance team and other non-finance users
- Support management in the design and implementation of strong financial controls
- Identify and test system enhancements to improve performance
- Support the financial accounting team with mapping prior year transactions in the subsidiary’s accounts to the new structure to enable consolidation of statutory accounts.
- Support day to day tasks such as the three (3) year 2027-2029 budget setting cycle during Q1, statutory audit of 31 December year end, and normal finance function operations
- Collaborate with IT, Finance, and senior stakeholders to align the financial systems with business goals
- Support development of detailed financial reports and reporting capabilities (including dashboards) from the system post-merger of the two companies.

What we need from you
- CPA, ACCA, ACA qualification or equivalent
- Experience in design / creation of chart of accounts Expertise in using ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar)
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, controls, and compliance
- Strong Excel skills and strong data analysis capabilities
- Strong problem-solving and project management
- Strong communication skills with ability to engage at all levels of the organisation
Bonus points
We do not need you to have the following, but if you did it could be beneficial:
- Experience with merger processes or propositions
- Experience implementing PowerBI as a reporting tool with Dynamics 365 Business Central
