About the Mission
Join a major European energy infrastructure project that drives sustainability and reliability across Belgium and Germany. You’ll work alongside internal teams and contingent workers to build a green, secure, and future-ready IT environment supporting critical energy operations.
Role Overview
As a System Engineer (Domain Expert) within the IT Infrastructure department, you will:
- Deploy and manage infrastructure for in-house applications in acceptance and production environments.
- Participate in design and architecture discussions for new deployments.
- Handle system architecture, capacity planning, and performance tuning for core shared applications and middleware (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB, RabbitMQ).
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex system issues.
- Configure F5 load balancing VIPs and optimize system performance.
- Support implementations on core technologies like RabbitMQ, Redis Cache, and others.
- Maintain operational policies and documentation.
- Participate in a 24/7 duty rotation (1 week every 6 weeks).
Key Responsibilities
- Interface with technical stakeholders to clarify requirements and propose solutions.
- Ensure optimal 2nd/3rd level support and liaise with vendors (Microsoft and others).
- Keep installation and architecture documentation up to date.
- Transfer knowledge to team members and contribute to continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Fluent in English (mandatory) and French or Dutch.
- Strong recent experience in Windows Server administration (2012–2022).
- Knowledge of Linux (RedHat preferred) and hybrid cloud deployment strategies.
- Expertise in IIS management, web deployments, and system integration.
- Scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
- Familiarity with MS-SQL, MongoDB, RabbitMQ, Redis Cache (training provided if needed).
- Solid understanding of networking (VLANs, DNS, proxies, firewalls, load balancing).
- Strong grasp of security protocols (TLS/SSL, encryption, secret keys).
- Excellent troubleshooting and stakeholder communication skills.
- Strategic mindset with risk analysis capabilities.
- Driver’s license and car (required for duty role).
- Mobile phone access for on-call duties.
Additional Details
- Occasional travel to Berlin (expenses covered).
- Non-EU candidates must have valid work and residence permits for Belgium.
- Telework flexibility: 60% remote, 40% onsite.
