System Engineer II

Location: Vacaville, California

The System Engineer II provides support and technical contribution for the Process Automation Systems Distributed Control System (DCS), Manufacturing Control System (MCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Building Automation System (BAS) and site manufacturing and Quality Control (QC) systems. Provide support to other business and information management related infrastructure for manufacturing and QC operations. Provide support to senior system engineers in executing projects in support of the Automation and QC roadmap focusing on Infrastructure, vendor software integrations and custom applications used in manufacturing and QC operations.

What you will do

• Provide System Administration, Infrastructure design and support for the MCS, DCS, user management activities for manufacturing and QC systems.

• Support to routine backup/restore/archival activities for production automation and site QC systems.

• Provide support for routine data retention, review audit trails, and patching for manufacturing and QC systems.

• Assist Senior/Principal System Engineers to maintain system availability and support infrastructure components, including firewalls and antivirus software; assist with Infrastructure (Production and QC) testing, debug, and startup activities.

• Work with project teams and outside groups including manufacturing, engineering, process science, validation and quality assurance personnel to implement right the first-time solutions.

• Support the resolution of automation and QC system issues including cause analysis, issue resolution, unplanned event assessments, CAPAs, and investigation.

• Perform troubleshooting and provide support for Cell Culture Plant 1 (CCP1), Cell Culture Plant 2 (CCP2), PLC and Site QC system and software issues, including on- call / after-hours support (as required).

What we are looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or an applicable Engineering field preferred, or significant related work experience accepted.

• Experience developing technical documentation for networks and information systems.

• Demonstrated experience with server administration, NetApp storage technologies, and core network infrastructure fundamentals; proficient in Windows and Linux operating systems, deployment tools (Symantec Ghost, Acronis), and scripting/programming languages such as VBScript, .NET, and SQL. Familiarity with Cisco and 3Com network switching, network monitoring utilities, and Citrix Metaframe or Microsoft Terminal Services.

• Demonstrates strong critical‑thinking and logical‑analysis skills.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite with focus on Outlook, Word, and Excel.
