The Role

The role also provides customer support, testing, documentation, relationship management, and continuous improvement while working with workflows, rules, integrations, and data-driven processes.
Summary Generated by Built In

Whitespace is a data-first digital trading platform used by brokers and underwriters to create and process insurance contracts as structured data. Its automation capabilities allow clients to apply configurable rules across the placement process, helping them reduce manual effort, make faster decisions and introduce greater consistency across underwriting and broking workflows.

In this role, you will work with clients, product specialists and technical teams to understand business requirements and translate them into accurate, effective system configurations. You will help configure and maintain the rules that support automated triage, quoting, binding and appetite matching within the Whitespace platform.

This would suit someone who enjoys solving problems, working with data and understanding how technology can improve complex business processes.

Responsibilities
  • Working with clients and internal stakeholders to understand underwriting, broking and placement requirements.
  • Translating business requirements into clear, testable configuration rules and decision matrices.
  • Configuring and maintaining rules that support automated decline, referral, quoting, firm order and appetite-matching processes.
  • Using structured contract data, defined data fields and question-and-answer data to support rules-based decisions.
  • Reviewing existing configurations and making controlled updates as client requirements evolve.
  • Testing configurations to confirm that rules produce the expected outcomes across different insurance placement scenarios.
  • Investigating configuration issues, identifying root causes and supporting their resolution.
  • Documenting configurations, rule changes, testing outcomes and client decisions.
  • Working closely with product, delivery, support and technical colleagues across the Whitespace Platform, integration layer and rules engine.
  • Supporting clients as they adopt new automation capabilities and make greater use of structured data.
  • Helping ensure that configurations are accurate, consistent and aligned with agreed business requirements.
Qualifications

What we’re looking for

  • Experience in a configuration, business analysis, systems analysis, implementation or application support role.
  • An ability to understand business processes and translate them into logical system rules.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience working with structured data, decision tables, rules engines, workflow tools or configurable software platforms.
  • Confidence working with both business and technical stakeholders.
  • Experience documenting requirements, configurations, test scenarios and outcomes.
  • A methodical approach to testing changes and managing configuration accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a collaborative environment.

It would be useful if you have

  • Experience within insurance, insurtech, the London Market.
  • Knowledge of commercial insurance placement, underwriting or broking workflows.
  • Familiarity with insurance terminology such as request to quote, firm order, written line, appetite and referral.
  • Experience with APIs, integration workflows or systems that exchange structured data.
  • Experience supporting SaaS products or client implementations.
  • Familiarity with tools that use decision matrices, business rules or no-code/low-code configuration.
  • Direct experience of Whitespace is not essential. More important is your ability to understand complex requirements, apply logical thinking and turn business needs into reliable system configurations.
